CNN says "Co-Pilot reprogrammed autopilot to crash plane"

It is so unfortunate that we seem to be succeeding at preventing the possibility of attacks by terrorist passengers on airliners, but having to factor in the possibility of a crew member sabotaging a flight, is another story. My heart breaks for the families of everyone who died on that flight that crashed in France.
It is not the first time a crew member has done that, as CNN reports that in 1999 over 200 people were killed when a co-pilot of an Air Egypt airliner deliberately crashed the plane into the Atlantic, apparently in retaliation for having gotten some kind of demotion. I guess we'll soon learn more about what possibly could have been behind this Co-Pilot's actions.
Sadly, there is not always a way to absolutely ensure that people are mentally stable, if they show no outward symptoms that would be questionable.
