They were looking really bad. Heavy yellowing and dropping of leaves. I should have posted a picture. I ended up cutting them way back so only the new growth in the center was left and really soaking them with water. So far they look okay. We'll see what happens. Really disappointing. These were the best plants I had in my front yard until about a month ago!

I have never gotten seeds on my Mexican bush sage. I have had it for 3 or 4 years, and this year, it is very small. I won't be surprised if it doesn't return next year. I would recommend taking some cuttings. Pineapple sage blooms so late that I have only gotten seeds from it once. I don't have one this year, as it didn't survive the winter - I doubt yours will, either, since you are zone 6. I bought mine at our local garden center. It was considered to be an herb. I bet you could root cuttings of this also, since salvias usually grow very well from cuttings. Becky

I took a couple pictures this morning. Sun wasn't fully on the garden yet so it's not very bright but this will let you see how the sage is shaped. The first picture shows it in some detail - the tall lavender/white thing on the right. The second photo shows it from a distance so you can see how it fits in the bed. It's actually not as floppsie as I thought. Having it on the edge of the bed (even though it's a little tall for that spot) gives the hummers lots of room to access all the flowers. It's harder to pick out in this photo. It's towards the right, at the front edge of the second round part of the bed. There are black eyed susans under it and white cat's whiskers peaking through behind it.

Yes. Divide away. If your plant is that big you could divide it into many plantlets.
