helenbr, I am the grateful owner of a Maytag Bravos - not the current 800 series, but the 6700 model (and 6400 dryer, non-steam). Cynic and I will have to agree to disagree, because I really do think the Bravos is better than the Cabrio and Oasis. My opinion is based on three main sources: 1) people I know, both IRL and online who've owned them; 2) appliance repairmen; and 3) Consumer Reports and other online sources. Maytags are now built with commercial parts so perhaps that makes a difference. All I know is, I've read and heard many more complaints from Cabrio/Oasis owners than I have from Bravos owners. I've had my Bravos pair for almost a year, and I do recommend them. I studied my washer manual thoroughly before using it for the first time because I had always owned conventional TL's and wanted to be sure I used it properly. Thus far, I've had ZERO problems. I love the huge capacity, I love being able to wash virtually everything in my house w/o having to go to a laundromat, I love it that I can now wash 3-5 loads of laundry a week whereas I used to wash 10-12 loads per week (big family). I haven't had ANY problems with wrinkling/tangling, mold/mildew (which is common in FL washers), etc. It does seem to me that the Bravos is built more solidly than the FP washers, plus they look small to me. I bought my Bravos set at Home Depot. Have you checked websites online to save you a lot of driving? I checked Lowe's, Sears, HD, and other websites to compare prices, warranty info, delivery info, etc, before I decided where to buy. Another advantage of checking their websites is being able to read the reviews which were written by owners. HTH! :-)

I also have the KitchenAid Ensemble, and have washed my son's very bulky Queen-sized Euro-style Ikea comforter in it 4 times in the last 4 weeks, and it comes out clean and smelling great. (He's 12 - and don't tell him I told you, but he still wets his bed about once a week). This particular comforter is so bulky, it just barely fits into the Ensemble washer - I mean, I'm pushing it. The first time I washed the comforter, I used the Sanitary cycle, but now I just use whitest whites cycle, and it works just fine. I've also washed loads and loads of towels, jeans, etc., using Normal or Heavy Duty, depending upon soil level and everything comes out so clean. I'm starting to sound like an advertisement - but my whites really do come out white! I never thought that was possible before. I was a little bummed when I realized that the Ensemble didn't have the "bulky" setting, but have found that it's not necessary. Oh - today I used the "silk" setting for my dark red table runners, and placemats, and they came out great! "Silk" doesn't have a spin cycle, so I added the spin cycle after the silk cycle completed. The runners and placemats had not been washed since Christmas day, but our electricity was out for 2 days, until this afternoon, so wash had to wait. Still, they all came out clean. Have I mentioned how much I love my KA Ensembles? I used to dread doing the laundry, and now I actually like doing it.

I'm not sure where all this information that Bosch is made by Maytag is coming from but I've been servicing Bosch appliances since 1999, Maytag, Frigidaire, GE & Whirlpool long before, and can say that there is not even a remote similarity between a Bosch and Maytag dishwasher. Their pumping systems are different, their heating systems are different, the timing systems are different, their dispensing systems are different, even their water valve is different. If fact the only thing these machines have in common are they are both dishwashers. I can also say that I've been using a Bosch D/W since 2000 and it's truly the best dishwasher I've ever used. I know that A&E service has been doing some of the dishwasher recalls in my area and maybe this is where some of the confusion is coming from. When Whirlpool purchased Maytag the Maytag techs had to become A&E techs and A&E is basically run by Sears who dispatches all their calls.
