A continuous flowering Scotch rose? Now that has lots of appeal for me. This class seems very happy in my garden and quite drought tolerant. However, if it is just being released at the Chelsea flower show this year it may not be available in the US yet.

Ah, you temptress, Marlorena, all 3 look gorgeous & I only have room for a few more climbers(sigh....), perhaps it's time for some shoveling. I grow quite a few hybrid musks, they do well in my climate & I'm intrigued by the Scotch rose. Do they do well for you?

Jane.....roses grow well here for me...this is very much a rose growing area where I am....open to the elements and probably gets more sun than most...
...I've already made room for 2 and I'm getting a little tired of 'Mortimer Sackler'.... which I've had for 6 years and grows too tall....so I'm thinking now this 'Kelmscott' would be an ideal replacement... although there are so many to choose from these days...
...I hope you can be tempted a little further...as time goes on....

mmmm, it looks as though the Austin stable is branching out a little more these days...which can only be a good thing. After all, how many frilly, many-petalled cup-shaped roses can one have (obviously hundreds for some of you)? I had my Austin moment some 15 years ago then wandered off into wildlings...but could be tempted back into the fold if this adventurousness continues. Like Melissa, I also pricked my ears up at the idea of a continual-flowering burnet (quite possibly my favourite class of roses).

I'm quite intrigued by Sir Walter Scott, being a Scotch rose, it should be quite hardy....

Sir Walter Scott is on my wish list, I'll be adding it to the garden, no doubt...

After seeing Marlorena's post I mailed Austin's Swedish agent urging them to stand in line for an early shipment of Sir Walter Scott. They replied and thanked me for the tip. I'm aware that it may be years before the rose is here.
