Comments (5)Does your plant have a tag? What is it potted in? I have no idea if the heat of the car killed the plant. Orchids do everything slowly, even die! lol. If the leaves look good, then you should move the plant out to a bright spot on your pool area, not direct sun but bright. It should not be kept too wet. I am growing in Florida and the high humidity and heat has been hard on some of my plants. You need good air movement around the plant when it is this hot/humid. For now, give it good light and do not let it dry out completely. Without a name or a better picture, its hard to tell what you have. Try to get a better photo of the plant. Comments (37)If anyone is interested in getting a jump on spring planting (like me- I just can't help it sometimes!) I'm having a little bit of an open house tomorrow for my neighbors, because I'm clearing out some plants and garden supplies and really didn't want to just throw them away. I'd love to save it all for the spring trade- there's tons of plants I'm looking for- but I they're taking up too much room :) Here's a list of things I'm getting rid of, and if anyone would like any of it, just reply for my address and you can come over and get what you want, first come first served! I'm in the Decatur/Emory/Clarkston area. 2 lady banks climbing roses 1 red flower carpet (miniature blooms) standard tree rose 2 unknown multicolored climbing roses (I forget the varieties, mea culpa) 1 unknown climbing yellow rose (excellent repeat bloomer) 2-3 climbing roses whose name I forget but who have white blooms with hot-pink-edged petals, very pretty 1 red climbing rose called Altissimo (single blooms, very bright red) 1 miniature light-pink climbing rose 1 truly enormous climbing new dawn rose. this thing has stems inches across at the base, and until we cut it back for transplanting was probably 15 or 20 feet up in the air. it kills me to get rid of it because it literally blooms all year, but we just took down 4 big trees and I have nothing to support it on anymore. I'll need some help digging it up from whoever takes it. 1 hybrid tea rose that hasn't been blooming well for me, I forget the variety but it has small pink blooms While I'm at it... I also have 2 rigid pond liners for a pond that never really got built (these will be a job to extricate, as the area has gotten weedy, but they're pretty nice still) some pond plants that were growing in the sort-of pond any number of rose of sharon plants that my husband would LOVE if someone wanted to dig up and take. Want a rose of sharon hedge? We've got you covered. They bloom pink, white and purple and get 6-8 feet tall if not cut back. strawberry starts from runners the azaleas in my front yard (they bloom white) are all slated to get removed, so if any of you want a dozen azaleas (or even one!), we would be extremely happy if we were saved the effort of digging them out. They're in a very untidy area, though, with ivy mixed in. I believe there is also some forsythia mixed up in there that's up for grabs. And I have some flowerpots too (some are quite large), and some gardening chemicals, which I'll set out in the driveway. a large, bright-blue rain barrel (spigot not yet installed) tons of crocosmia Quite a few grow lights and light fixtures for seed starting There's probably more, but that's all I can think of at the moment....See MoreBeallara Marfitch 'Howard's Dream' AM/AOS
Comments (9)As an mostly unrepetent species snob, I couldn't I.D. very many hybrids/etc if my life depended on it! ;~) I just never gave it a second thought and went with what the tag said. I spent more time getting a good photo than I did looking it up. (and that was only 10 minutes or less) Give me a really unusual one that's virtually impossible to grow and I'll research it into the ground. An unbalanced/obsessive personality is all I have to work with! ;~) Some of those 'dime-a-dozen' plants really are very nice. I don't know why things that actually like to grow is given such disrespect. I actually have always loved the species Phals! I've just alway killed every one that I've had! :~( I'd like to try again...someday! Sniffle...sniffle I found out that I'm allergic to beer and probably also the way that I've always liked my calamari! I'm gluten intolerant and yeast(both bakers and brewers) make me sick! :~( I don't miss beer, but I really loved calamari rings! I kow that there're subsitutions, but they just aren't the same thing! I had to look up what LMBO meant and I liked Denis Leary's version! ;~) Scott...See MoreMy dream style - what do I call it? (See photo)
Comments (24)bodica and nan53 - I got really excited when you both mentioned Scandinavian. That's what I had in mind, too. I think it's the stenciled pattern around the window that does it. Anyway, I love what could be called Old World, Bavarian, Black Forest, Scandinavian folk art, etc... I want a really elaborate cuckoo clock for Christmas next year! I also like the descriptions of Colonial and Early American. I figure these are styles that won't be dated in 10 years. I'm in the middle of painting our old, dark paneling to a nice crisp white, and the above kitchen photo best illustrates the new look I want for the whole house. These are photos of my living room with one wall painted and another not. I know the baskets and African animals aren't exactly Old World or Early American - I'll deal with that later. I'll do the rest of the painting when I can. I'll be stenciling a vine and berry design around the top of the wall and a smaller, complimentary pattern around the windows and fireplace. I detest the textured spackle ceilings and want to replace them, but can't decide how. I'd like stained beadboard on the ceiling if it's not too busy with the grooved paneling (more about that idea elsewhere on Gardenweb...). I'll probably be replacing the curtains with solid white battenburg lace ones, and the rust-colored carpet with hardwood. You may notice that one window is plain and the other has what looks like a multi-paned window grille. It's masking tape. I put it there to decide whether I wanted the window grilles. I do. Oh, yeah, and I need to win the lottery too! :)...See Moreshavedmonkey (Harvey in South Fl.)Z10b
