Pick my backsplash? What would you do if this were your kitchen?
Comments (17)i like what fern4 posted. it makes the subway tile a little more interesting. i still stand by my basketweave!!!! i think you need to decide how unique you want to make your kitchen. the subway tile (or marble subways which would be nice) will certainly look great and will be the classic white kitchen. if you want that look, than go for the subways. i liked the basketweave because it is still traditional but it is something you don't see often. i also don't think it will be too busy.....mine isnt' busy at all and it is not busier than the minibricks or glass mosaics out there. have you seen vic's kitchen..... white cabinets, costa esmerelda countertops (same as my kitchen) but she chose a terracotta patterned tile. i love how it makes her kitchen "hers"...... and it looks totally different than mine. i would say decide what look you are going for, and then make your decision, because all of the ideas sound great....it's just what you want the feel to be........See MoreHow do you think this backsplash would work with my kitchen
Comments (8)The light marble works in the other kitchen because the counters and floor are darker. It would wash your kitchen out. You need a backsplash that has some of the counter and cabinet colors in it to bring it all together. Also something with a little pattern as your counters and floor are more solid. Try a travertine mosaic tile with same warm brown and ivory tones in it. A mini brick or square would work well as you have that small area above the counters and a larger tile would be too big there....See MoreHO-HUM... Where would you start/stop backsplash?
Comments (13)I would consider using the BASE CABINET edge as your stopping point. You would have a little countertop edge sticking out from the backsplash and your uppers would stick out as well. Draw a line and see if you like it. One option (more expensive) would be to tile all the way to the edge of the corner and down to the baseboards. You might have enough scrap to make that happen. That way you won't even realize it is not lined up. good luck!...See MoreBacksplash? No backsplash? What kind of backsplash?
Comments (25)didn't have time to read all the answers. I have no backsplash and have never regretted it...been over 6 yrs. It is painted with BM matte...which has ceramic in it. It is as beautiful now as it was when first painted. I love the fact that I can showcase other things ...art etc in my kitchen and no competition. Also if I ever want to change it is as quick as a paint brush...expense is minimal..paint only ! All in all I think it is serene as you point out . Here is one pick. Since I have a lot of high heat cooking in my kitchen..built in deep fat fryer as well as gas cook top I can definitely speak to the longevity of paint only. c ( more at this album )...See Morealexamorrie
