How do you think this backsplash would work with my kitchen

I am having Giallo Ornamental installed next week. What do you think of this tumbled marble with it in my kitchen? Not necessarily this whole design, but the color of the 4x4 tiles? I'm trying to avoid busy because of the glass block windows and want the granite and cabinets to be the focal point.

Also, what should I put above that center window over the cooktop?

Is there a third window to balance the one off to the right?

I think the color of the tumbled marble will be fine. Somehow the windows should be integrated into the overall design with the tile.

Yes, there is a 3rd window.

So, how would I integrate the windows? Maybe have the tiles diamond and have subway shape around the windows?

Please help! I have to have this decided in the next day or so!

The red diamonds in my backsplash are glass and I really like the effect. The other tiles are a bit off-white, and I think they match the cabs, I've never noticed. lol I have orb for some of the hardwared, and ruby colored pulls and knobs on the hutch which is in the kitchen. I also have an orb faucet whith white sink. White appliances. The appliances are whiter than the cabs, but its not noticeable. As far as the granite. That's a hard one to answer. Take every single thing off the countertop and I love my granite. But that color of granite is so hard to accesorize with it's driving me crazy! However, I recently discovered pale yellow, white, and light vintage green looks wonderful on the granite. My walls are a very pale yellow. Black accessories are good too, but I want more pastels in my kitchen. It only took me three years to figure out that pastels really look best with the granite and white cabs!

That happens to be one of my all time favorite backsplashes. Unfortunately, I don't believe it works with your cabinets because of the two tone. Two tone cabs (to me) lean toward a more classic traditional feel. That backsplash (again, to me) reads a bit more earthy. It's not that it doesn't go with the individual colors of your cabinets, I believe it's because of the two tone. It's hard to read your countertop color on my monitor, what is it? I see that your uppers (beautiful BTW) have glass fronts and shelves. The shelves look to have a slight greenish cast to them. What if you were to do a mini brick (assuming you like that cause of the Fire and Ice pick) in a very pale green glass? It would tie into your glass shelves? This is from Oceanside Glass, Elevations, Color Midori Matte, 1x2 offset joint (I think). Just as a kinda idea of what I'm talking about. I didn't search a bunch of sites... just went to Oceanside cause I thought they'd have something along of the lines of what I'm talking about.

BeeYOOTifulllll!!! I don't know which I like better, for me, I would go with the white ones, but the green is gorgeous! We had green counters in our last house and loved them. However, I love the white because you can change the accent colors of your kitchen much easier. OTOH, the green will be something distinct that not any other house you go to will likely have...that is a plus for me! Whichever way you go, I think it will be simply gorgeous!

Well, your slabs are as busy as mine. So, I would have to say you need something that is calm and not attention grabbing. I did find some some Jeffrey Court marble tiles that were really pretty. And they mixed in some pieces that had a curvy line of something sparkly in it. Imagine a 1/8" x 1/8" mosaic in an S pattern running through the tile....and just one line of it. It was really cool. I think it was a liner, but it could have been used anywhere in the field tile. But it was mixed in with the same tiles that didn't have that S in it. Kind of hard to describe. I know it's new. The light marble works in the other kitchen because the counters and floor are darker. It would wash your kitchen out. You need a backsplash that has some of the counter and cabinet colors in it to bring it all together. Also something with a little pattern as your counters and floor are more solid.

Try a travertine mosaic tile with same warm brown and ivory tones in it. A mini brick or square would work well as you have that small area above the counters and a larger tile would be too big there.

Why do you have to have the backsplash decided so soon?? Some take forever to find the "perfect" backsplash. Wouldn't it be easier to pick once the granite is installed??

If not, then there were several in your stone mosaics link that I liked-boading creme, cabos tumbled, elfes noce were just a few that caught my eye.

Hopefully some others will chime in with some direction for you. Good luck!!

You must have read my mind. I'm going to wait until the granite is in next week and then start looking. I think it will be much easier to bring the samples home and look at them with the granite already installed.

I second that you wait until the granite is in. You get a much better overall picture - of the whole kitchen. Much easier to make a decision
