You vote: Mirrors in front of large picture window or to the side
Comments (9)oooooo! First, I have to confess, I have view-envy! I can understand your reluctance to cover it up. I too can see the pros and cons of either way but here are my main thoughts... #1 Although some of the view is missing, there still appears to be a pretty large area in the center. I think that the view would make an amazing "frame" around your mirrors. I'm also really into symmetry and balance so that appeals to me on this option. #2 Obviously, you'd enjoy even more of the beautiful view and it doesn't trouble me to have window directly above the sinks instead of a mirror. A pivoting mirror is interesting and if it were large enough and stable enough, it would seem fine to me. What might be an issue, in my opinion, is the single light on one side of the mirror. I think that would either not be enough light or at least would cause some unwanted shadows. I can't tell exactly where the light would hang in relation to the mirror when it is pivoted out into a usable position. Overall, I'd probably lean toward #1. I think you'll see much of the view and your mind will sort of "fill in the blanks" of what you don't see. What a lovely dilemma to have! Either way, it will be gorgeous and I hope you will continue to post pictures for the rest of us to enjoy. I'm currently searching for pendant lights for our guest bath reno so if you'd care to share what you've chosen, I'd love to see them. Good luck!...See MoreMedicine cabinet at your back? No mirror? Comments (7)I'm not sure if your bathroom is configured this way, but this is what we did. (The walls aren't done yet, even though they look painted in the picture.)We didn't have a medicine cabinet for 30 years and I couldn't wait to get one. This is "The Concealed Cabinet" the previous poster talked about. I love it! (And I have no association with that company what-so-ever). I will say it's a bit pricey and if you're handy (which we are) and have the time (which we didn't) you could probably build one yourself. In fact, I remember someone on this forum recently did just that. I don't know how I ever got along without a medicine cabinet, so if your only alternative is to put one on a wall behind you, DO IT! You won't be sorry...See MoreMantle Accessorizing - please vote & advise
Comments (14)I love these suggestions and I really appreciate the mirror suggestion and link. Anyone have a suggestion for rectangular mirror? I have more a rectangle thing going here than round or oval. The 3 decorators are (not in order by images) (1) me, 48 yr old female no kids, (2) my visiting 13 year old creative niece and (3) my 48 year old husband. DH and I have different tastes from each other plus I value my niece's opinion, so we did this for entertainment today. It was fun. I'll get a much larger painting (DH wants) or very large mirror (I want) and take "results" photos some time in the future. Keep the votes and suggestions coming!...See MorePlease vote on "art" for my deck!
Comments (32)Thank you all so much! Nancybee, joanie38, pattxlynn, and MarinaGal - Thank you so much for your kind words and for voting! Lolauren - No wind to speak of. I love the planter and the fountain, but I worry about the weight of them and staining from water/soil. Hilltop - Thank you so much for taking the time to photoshop! I like the looks of the sunburst, but I worry about the copper patina staining the siding. Maybe that's an unfounded concern? Susieq - I'll check out Overstock. Thanks! Tinam61 - A trellis is a possibility, but I really don't want to grow anything there. It would have to be in some sort of planter behind the love seat, and that just seems awkward to me. I love container plants, but they dry out so quickly, and they're hard to maintain when we travel. I would need something absolutely foolproof that can survive summers and winters here and look good for years. DH and I aren't too concerned about hanging something relatively lightweight from the siding. Afterall, it's nailed up without issue. kswl - Thanks for posting your pictures! Your patio and porch are so inviting. I checked the link, and I was drawn to the Constable one too! I don't have room to do a diptych, but I could use one of them. I do wish they had some from the High Museum in Atlanta! I'm not sure if DH wants to spend that much right now. We'll see. Cindyloo - I'll check out custom banners as well. DH would be thrilled if I could find something in that price range. Where would I look? Adding a trellis is an interesting possibility. I like the idea of being able to change what's out there. Joanie b - Thank you so much for the photoshop work! It really helps to see them in the space where they'll go. Thanks also for the hook suggestion. Do you know if they work on non-vinyl siding? I hope I didn't miss anyone! I really do appreciate all the responses, suggestions, pictures and photoshopping!...See Morejaynes123
