It marble threshold a good idea?

Our remodel includes a full (master) bath and a powder room. The master has a marble tile floor, and we were expecting, and got, a marble threshold between it and the bedroom. However, we put porcelain hex tiles in the powder room and were NOT expecting to see a marble threshold there. Is this common, when there's no marble in the immediate area? To me, it looks like "Oh, we had some leftover marble, so we took the lazy way out." But after reading posts on this site and elsewhere, it seems that many find marble thresholds desirable, no matter what material is on either side. I should add that the marble is grayish carrara, and the hex tile is unglazed (i.e., off-white) porcelain with black flowers.
