Comments (9)Glenda's post from yesterday reminded me of a few years ago when my wife and I went to the island of Madeira for a conference. We arrived a day early without a problem, but a huge storm blew through the Northeast that day and my wife's family were sending pictures of the snow like my picture above to the family e-mail list, comparing who got hit the worst. So my wife posted the following picture to the thread that we had taken on a walk from the hotel to downtown Funchel, Madeira just that morning. Comments (20)Jim, I watched my caterpillars do much the same thing. Once they are ready, they don't waste time. I had 4 moving about looking for that perfect spot at the same time. Comments (8)Overlook from the Gunflint Trail, out of Grand Marais, MN. The trail goes up to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. You drive up to the end of the trail, launch your canoe (no motors allowed), and enter a HUGE wilderness. Tons of lakes and islands. No facilities. It's for people who want true wilderness. Extends into Canada. You dig your own latrine, build fires, pitch (or don't) your tent, etc. I've only looked out at it, never wanted to actually experience it. Two weeks ago a niece and her husband stopped by on their trip to Vermont and had to spend an extra day due to snow.

Getting some of the snow off the roof. Taken a couple weeks ago. We are snow free for now. Expect a little more tomorrow to ring in spring.
