Gee, I get very little spam. I get a lot of sales "fliers", but they are from companies I purchase stuff from. Most of the time I delete without reading, other times I read, and some times I even purchase something advertised in the email. Maybe I'm just lucky, spam hasn't been a problem for me on any of my email addresses, I look after three of them, plus my wife's. I can't remember a single time I got an email from myself or from one of my other addresses. I guess that's what has protected me from using such tools as were discussed in this thread. I hope the computer gurus on this forum keep giving free help, I've been the beneficiary many times, and I welcome even short and direct inputs pointing out the errors I am, or may be, making. NJ is finally getting winter today, snow, freezing rain. Newark air port is reporting 7 hour delays, or cancellations, no sun shine for us for a day or two.

I don't know the answer to how you get the prescription, but as for your question about insurance; the question is not "will the Canadian pharmacy accept my insurance?". The question is "will my insurance company pay for treatment obtained outside the United States?", and "will my insurance company pay for non-FDA-approved medication?". Insurance companies choose what and who they will pay for, not the other way around. Ask your insurance company. Some policies cover international care if necessary, some don't. My guess is they will not cover non-FDA approved medication, regardless of what country you purchase it in.

You're right Kelly and @SaltiDawg is missing the point; when ordering from http://petsuppliesnet.com/ that I started this thread with I know I am getting a real product and not a counterfeit which most of us would not be able to identify - it just wouldn't work in our pets and @SaltiDawg is advocating a counterfeit capital in Mexico. I still get my Comfortis for fleas at http://petsuppliesnet.com/ 9 yrs after this original post so it is a proven product along with liquid Ivermectin for heartworms. The other benefit of shopping for Comfortis outside of U.S. is I order the largest size and cut it down to dose 3 small and 1 large (85 lbs) from one Comfortis tablet that doses up to 120 lbs. If I purchase it in U.S. I would need to buy a box for each dog in their weight category so each gets a whole pill from their box every month plus each dog needs an exam...we in U.S. make it so expensive it becomes cost prohibitive. I am 62 yrs old and started as a surgical veterinary technician in my 20s so I think I know what I'm talking about. Even with employee discounts for these products it is still way cheaper to buy Comfortis and many other meds that require a prescription here outside of U.S. and a large bottle of injectable ivermectin to use orally (pull up with syringe from bottle, take needle off and squirt in their mouth) from a feed store locally or Jeffers.com. Way cheaper for heartworm prevention!! So @SaltiDawg, good luck finding real meds and not counterfeits in Mexico... if I still lived near the border I may look into it but what I have lined out here is tried and true and much of this I learned from the vets I have worked for over the years and some do these themselves if they don't get enough freebies from the product reps :)

mcpeg, I'm an American and certainly take no offense to your concern and I would agree totally if in your position. That said, I should add that I have problems with all the people coming here for free health care too. People come from Mexico to have children here to be covered by US care at taxpayer expense and to the detriment of other citizens. I don't think that's right. Our state has a more lenient welfare system than many others and we get busloads of people who come in for a weekend to make claims, collect payments and go home. I don't mind helping out, but I don't like being taken advantage of. The problem of course is the laws of our respective countries and states/provinces. Just like the US is too stupid to tax actors who make millions and have their residency elsewhere, including Canada ;) (Dan Akroyd, Michael J. Fox, Adam Sandler, etc) and pay no taxes here. I don't think that's right either. But we have a dyslexic dimwit in the, well, I won't get into politics, not appropriate. But I do think you are justifiably concerned about it and I for one, share your dissatisfaction, and you needn't be sorry for feeling that way.
