Snapper vs. Husqvarna front self propelled mower
Comments (3)IMHO, there will not be a lot of difference between the two except for color. You are looking at entry level self propelled mowers, if it starts, drives, and cuts grass be happy. Either engine will give years of reliable service if reasonably maintained. Actually it will likely outlast the rest of the mower, five years is a reasonable life expectancy in this price range. Now before all the Craftsman owners start flaming me, this is average. Some will do better but many others will fall by the wayside earlier. The big difference between the low and high priced mowers are cutting performance and longevity. I have a near new MTD with a Honda engine that stays in the shed (the landlord owns it) and a 15 year old Honda (mine)that cuts and bags better than any mower I have owned....See MoreBest Rear Drive Self Propelled Mower
Comments (9)try a commercial snapper with a kawasaki engine. heavy mowers but built to last and the drive sytem is very serviceable should something happen to it. many of the lawnboy/toros and other cheap mower have too much plastic in the drive train. they are designed to be replaced in a short time as we have become a disposable nation. that has caused us to think gee why but a $700-1000 mower when i can get 3 or 3 $200-300 mowers. surely 3 cheapies will outlast one good one and i can eat out more on what i save. buy a good one and it will last 25 or more years instead of buying 10 cheapies in that same timeframe. think about it 10 cheapies now $200/300 = $2000/3000 and in 10 years they will be $400/500. invest in a good mower and it will pay back....See MoreBest self propelled walk behind mulching mower
Comments (28)I just got a Cub Cadet CC550SP and it is a great mower. My yard looks much better after one cut. The suction on this mower is outstanding when using the bag. It's amazingly quiet and its the easiest thing to start. Starts on first pull EVERY TIME! Did not or would not ever buy from the big box stores. I did some comparison shopping and even though the models had same numbers the mowers had small differences. First being the wheels. Home depots mowers had these narrow hard plastic wheels and the one I got had 2" wide heavy duty wheels. At box store your new mower is sure to have loose bolts on it somewhere. At the store I bought mine, DEWYNNS in San Antonio Texas, they set up my new mower serviced it and step by step showed me all the features. Try finding someone at a box store who could even find where the lawnmowers are. In closing, don't rush out to lowest or home depot to try and save money. I spent the same amount of money at a store that just sells lawn equipment and the service was outstanding. I've bought a couple pieces of lawn equipment there and will only go there in the future....See MoreSelf propelled mower
Comments (14)You cannot get RWD with big wheels. The largest wheels on a RWD are on the Honda HRX at 9" diameter. Most other mowers have 8" wheels - some have 6" wheels on the front. If you throw out the big wheels, there are many mowers that fit your description. Along with Skane, I suggest checking your home centers/hardwares frequently to snag a bargain. I have bought several mowers that way. Sometimes you have to do some minor work on them, but its worth it. I got a 'reconditioned' Lawn Boy 10684 at Home depot for $139. This means somebody bought it, used it hard and took it back. I don't know what they did in the 'reconditioning', but I had to replace the blade driver, blade stiffener and blade because of bending/damage/vibration. This was four years ago and its still one of my favorite mowers. You can get a bargain if you know what you're looking at....See More1saxman
