Remember those aluminum drinking glasses?
Comments (10)I have those old Tupperware plastic drinking cups that are not functional (the plastic may be toxic to drink out of), but they are not worth selling--maybe $10 on ebay. So now you're got me thinking about the rain chain idea for myself, although the aluminum ones are probably sparkly when then catch the sun....See MoreCan Drinking Glasses Be Washed In The Dishwasher?
Comments (17)As a rule of thumb in a case like this, I ask myself how much do they mean to me? I wash everything In The dishwasher. Even my Royal Doulton china. With that I’d did a check with the manufacturer and was told that anything made after 1975 is safe for the dish machine. But my silver rimmed stemware started to fade, so now I wash it by hand. The China is Sherbrooke pattern and the crystal is Mikkasa Briarcliffe. a...See MoreMaybe OT - do you have more than one set of "everyday" glasses?
Comments (20)I moved to a smaller space recently (although the kitchen is actually bigger) so I did a lot of purging.. I allocated one top shelf for company casual 12 water glasses, 6 wine glasses and 6 martinis. I don't entertain as much anymore and that should be more than enough. I limited myself to a medium size bottom shelf for the regular everyday hodge-podge including plastic mobile versions for summer, etc. It has been more than enough and is probably half of what I used to have. As they break, I shouldn't have to replace for many years -- unless the hodge-podge randomness becomes unattractive and I feel a need to reset with a matched set. I've also noticed that newer dishwashers have smaller capacity, presumably from all the insulation keeping them quieter. So the glasses turn over more and do not get stored in the d/w for awhile -- reducing my need for even as many as I've got....See MoreHelp me choose something silly - drinking glasses
Comments (14)I always prefer a clear tumbler. I like the way a beverage looks in clear like Linelle and Lolo. I need to have a good glass to drink from. I found some really awesome drinking glasses at Target about 5 years ago. I was surprised to find such a great quality glass there. They are clear with a footed base and what makes them so pretty are the etched polka dots on them. The frosted dots add some prettiness to the clear glass. I loved them so much I bought 16 drinking glasses because I wanted enough in case of breakage. I still think they are the prettiest drinking glasses I have ever owned and they are definitely the nicest in feel both in handling and drinking. I haven't seen them there since I bought them but you may find something similar....See Moregrandmamary_ga
