Brian, do you know a good match for Conestoga's Hearthstone Grey?

I will be posting those matches (for all three of their greys, hearthstone/cadet/metropolitan) in the next few days!

elizardbethday, here are the close match greys to Conestoga's grey paints. I posted this in a separate Houzz post a moment ago as well.

• Conestoga Hearthstone Grey is just a touch darker than Sherwin Williams Repose grey SW7015 but a
  touch lighter than Mindful Grey SW 7016
• Conestoga Cadet Grey is almost a dead ringer for Sherwin Williams Dorian Grey 7017
• Conestoga Metropolitan Grey has a distinct bluish cast and is very close to
  Sherwin Williams Cityscape SW 7067

Cabinet Joint (Brian?) - My KD works for Wellsford Cabinetry, and those color names you mentioned: Designer White, Frosty White and Crystal White - are the exact names of the color door samples I looked at, at the Wellsford showroom & factory - are the companies affiliated?

Wellsford may very well be using Conestoga doors and finishes on their product. That is actually Conestoga's biggest customer - cabinet shops who buy their doors and such from Conestoga, many of them buying the product pre-finished. I bet if you asked them, they would have no problem telling you. Most shops are pretty proud to offer the Conestoga stuff!

Sw7044 comes up as Amazing Gray... I'm trying to find a match for Crystal White.. Anyone?

I have Crystal White cabinets & they look like SW7002, Downy. I just checked them against the paint chip, and it's pretty much identical.

Here are what we feel are the closest matches to their popular whites and the three greys...Keep in mind, this was our team at a paint store making matches under various lights, these are NOT Conestoga approved matches. They just help you get a better understanding without having to order a sample block.

Designer = Sherwin Williams 7007
Ceiling Bright White

Frosty = Sherwin Williams 7005 Pure White

Crystal = Sherwin Williams 7002 Downy White

Metropolitan Grey = Sherwin Williams
City Scape 7067

Cadet Grey = Sherwin Williams Dorian Grey

Hey Cabinet Joint, are any of the Conestoga grays cool in tone? I'm looking for something that would go nicely with Carrara marble.

cece673, I think the best grey they offer for Carrara is the Hearthstone. Cadet and Metro are a little to dark and heavy to me. But that may be just my opinion! Let me know what you think!

We shot the video, just need to get it up. We are actually going through all Conestgoa's standard colors this week and martching to close SW colors. Will post on our site when that is complete.

Cabinet joint, one more question! Do you have a paint match for the slate blue?

I wish I could say we found an exact match, but we did not (at least in sherwin Williams line), but the color 'granite peak SW6250' is the closest we came, and I would only call it a sort of close match. Sorry!!

Many Pro level paint suppliers can get a read off the sample for an exact computer generated formula to match. PPG dealers have excellent capabilities for this.

Hi guys, anyone know a match for Conestoga's Antique White or Chesapeake? Not sure if it's posted somewhere on CJ's site and I just can't find it...thanks!

caligirl5, the matches are noted with the pic on the web site. Click the 'i' symbol for each color and a window will pop up giving you the close match. Chesapeake is close (not exact) to SW's 'Napery' SW6386. Antique white is not pictured on our site as it is not very popular and at the time of our web site revamp a few months back, Conestoga did not have good representative images of it, but the closest match to it we could find is Sherwin William's 'White Duck'. Again, in both these cases, we could not find super close matches, but these will get you in the ball park, at least enough to determine if you want to order actual Conestoga sample blocks. SW has changed their color palette this year, so there may be some closer colors now, but we have not yet sat down with the new color selector and matched it up with their colors. We intend to do so soon as Conestoga has recently introduced a bunch of new paint colors.

Hi, we are about to place an order with you for partial inset cabinet doors for our upper cabinets and for full base cabinets and drawers all in Westhighland White. We want to keep our upper cabinets and just reface them as they are beautiful built-ins integrated with the crown but we are finding it impossible to get a match for the face frames from Sherwin Williams. Their Westhighland White wasn't a match to the door we ordered from you as a sample, their computer read-out of the door also didn't deliver a color that worked and a third attempt by the store manager to guess at the color didn't provide a match either. SW has said they're not sure what else to do. While I now understand from your explanation why the colors don't match (thank you!!), I am wondering if you have any recommendations on what SW white might be a good match for using on the face frames with the Westhighland White that Conestoga uses for their doors or if there is anyway to find out the formula used on doors for WestHighland White to help our local SW better match the color? Any advice would be very much appreciated!

pingwing, I have not had any reported issues with Sherwin Williams not being able to match a Conestoga paint color, but my suggestion may be to see if another brand (Ben Moore, Valspar, etc) can match it? If not, the only 2 fall-back scenarios I can think of are: 1) Order Conestoga's actual Catalyzed Conversion Varnish and spray your cabinets (NOT advisable as it is a very potent, industrial coating) or 2) A more reasonable option would be to order refacing materials from Conestoga in matching paint (they will paint veneers, plywoods, 1/4" refacers molding, etc) and reface the cabinets versus painting them.

In truth, even if you found a paint store to match Conestoga's paint, the paint they are selling you is an Acrylic Latex or an oil based enamel and neither will 'age' the same as Conestoga's Catalyzed Conversion Varnish cabinet coating (a far superior finish in every way). So in a year, 3 years or 5 years, you may experience some serious color drift as UV light takes its toll differently on the two different kinds of finishes. We normally counsel customers to either paint everything (including the doors) themselves or get Conestoga to paint everything and reface the cabinets in the color matched material.

Additionally, if you brush apply your cabinet paint, your sheen will not match that of Conestoga's doors as theirs are spray applied paint/coatings and yours will have some texture from the brush marks. The result looks a little like two different finishes all together, even if the color is pretty close to the same.

Probably not the answer(s) you were wanting, but its the best answer I can give ya! Give us a call if you have any questions!

Thank you - we considered the skin option but it has to work with a Victorian gingerbread crown that comes into the face frame of the cabinets and the additional depth on the frames with a skin will make it impossible to use the Salice 3/8ths hidden hinges we've purchased. We'll next try Benjamin Moore - they're great at color matching - thank you for the suggestion. And thank you also for all the other help - CabinetJoint has been wonderful helping us work out our order amidst the many challenges faced in trying to restore an old kitchen. No, this question is asking in the Crystal Cabinet line what is the paint formula for their color bisque?

Crystal Cabinetry, you know, the actual cabinet manufacturer, would have to tell you what would be close. The Cabinet Joint doesn’t have anything to do with Crystal Cabinetry. But. As The Cabinet Joint said above, the chemistry is not the same, and the regular paint colors will not ever be a 100% match to a conversion finish that is used on cabinets.

Hi, I am wondering if you have updated matches for the white colors. specifically for crystal white and antique white. The antique white doesn't seem like such a close match to white duck.

I just happened to stumble across this thread, and thought would opine, even though the Cabinet Joint is one of my fierce competitors :) but when one of my customers asks me what matches Conestoga's Artic White, we recommend SW7706 Extra White. Artic White is just a little whiter!

I am sitting here with frosty white, designer white and artic white door samples. Which one is the brightest white ? I want a white with a little warmth, but not stark white? I thibk designer may be the brightest but I want to make sure. any help would be appreciated

Designer white seems like a cool toned white. Arctic white is the brightest and frosty white is creamy. I’d go with frosty.

Does Conestoga still make their ”Cotton” color for kitchen cabinet doors/drawers? Which Sherwin-Williams paint color matches that?

@Cabinet Joint I thought Arctic White most closely matched SW7757 Highly Reflective White. Is it true that Extra White is actually a better match?
