Does anyone have white Ultracraft cabinets?
Comments (44)Very disappointed with our ours. White uppers, what was sold as maple (but is actually a veneer) lowers. “Wood” finishes don’t match from one cabinet front to another. The finish is easily damaged on the “wood“ and the white looks cheap. Not at all equivalent to the price they charge. Our contractor: ”I don’t understand - this is supposed to be a high quality product.”...See MoreDoes anyone have distressed/antiqued white cabinets on here?
Comments (0)Hi there everyone! I just found this forum last night while I was searching online for some cabinet reviews. I wish I would have found this months ago.......or even a year ago!! We are in the middle of a complete kitchen redo. The kitchen has been gutted and we are stuck on our cabinet choice. Our old house had a medium stained maple cabinet with dark glazing and distressing and we had pine plank flooring. The kitchen was very open and received quite a bit of light with higher ceilings. Although it was a lot of wood, it didn't seem dark and we liked it. Our new home however has lower ceilings, isn't an open floor plan (although the dining area is attached to the kitchen, but not open to the great room if that makes sense) and doesn't get as much natural light as our old kitchen. We did install the same flooring as our old house so it's a medium colored pine plank flooring. My husband wouldn't mind having the same wood cabinets but I'm thinking it will just be too dark so we are exploring other options. I've been searching and searching for kitchens for months now and I am drawn immediately to white kitchens while looking.......like a French country look......not contemporary. We have distressed furniture in the dining area and I don't think the contemporary look will blend well with the style of our home. If anyone on here has a French country type kitchen with white or off-white cabinets would you mind sharing a pic with me please? We are stuck with trying to decide between glaze or no-glaze and distressing/no distressing. I also will have some questions about the layout of our kitchen but I'm trying to get a drawing made up to post before I do that. Thanks so much in advance for your help!!...See MoreDoes anyone have painted white cabinets that have held up?
Comments (39)With regard to Thermofoil option: Yikes! I have yet to see a high quality option. The product is basically a sheet of plastic, printed to look either like wood or a high gloss lacquer. The MDF or particle board door is shaped and then a heater is applied to shape the sheet of plastic over the top and around the sides of the face. It is cooled and cut off along the back edge. Any cabinet next to an oven or dishwasher, will have issues. Period. Over time the sides tend to delaminate and you will get lifting and loose looking edges. Eventually they rip. Trying to match one, if something breaks a door is very difficult and expensive. If your cabinet line offers a free touch up kit- that is wonderful! Just imagine that when your counter top is being installed, they accidentally bump a door face. This is not a warning of an inferior finish- it is a thoughtful manufacturer....See MoreAnyone know a direct cabinet manufacturer that uses Conestoga doors?
Comments (5)No manufactured line does that. They make everything but the drawer boxes usually. No true custom cabinet maker orders parts. They build all of their own in house. The manufacturers that do own different door plants from the box plants, are not at all the same level of quality. If a parts and pieces cabinet guy orders? It is not anything finished. That would be a guaranteed color mismatch. If they are an assemble a kit cabinet guy, instead of custom, they might order unfinished doors, instead of making them in shop. But Conestoga isn’t on the list. They are too high for what you get. Conestoga is for experienced DIYers who want higher end quality while paying midgrade quality prices. That means that you’d pay 55K for your house’s cabinets instead of 90K....See Moregr8daygw
