leslie6ri, mad gallica and ginny12 - thank you so much for your help! Sadly, it's not any of these books or authors but ginny12's suggestion was def in the right direction! More clues... -I purchased it from Borders, new, in the early 2000's. It was on the discount rack. -It showed less than 10 landscapes -Each landscape had at least 2, maybe even 4 pages dedicated to each one. I have to thank everyone for entertaining and helping on this. I must have read this book cover to cover a million times (you'd think I'd remember a little more about it...).

Thank you, that's it! I never would have found it by the title. Originally just skimmed it while out and planned to read it when I got home, but days went by and so did the thread. Definitely want to check out that book. Sounds like it would apply to more than just a kitchen redo. Feel like I'm always weighing something or other and often think life was so much easier when I was a poor grad student when everything I owned fit in a car and decisions were more obvious.... for everything. Now too much stuff and too many options. Thanks again for the link.

I read some delightful books years ago by an English lady (C. 1940s) that were about farm life from the perspective of the animals...not children's books. One was from the viewpoint of the badgers, one the draft horses. There were many books, so she must have been quite prolific and famous...they were so sweet, I would love to find them again, but can't remember titles or author. Any suggestions? This story has taken me back to various Great Aunts and other ladies of a 'certain age' who always wore these fox furs as they were known over here. Being small at the time I used to be on a level with the eyes and teeth of the fox and used to put out a tentative finger "Will it bite me?" To a small child they were very life-like.
