Cures for Cabin Fever!
It has been too long this winter we are having!! Too cold and way too much snow. I would rather see mud in the garden. So I put on my new garden shoes and walk around the house in them, somehow it makes me feel better.
Then I read my gardening books for the umpteenth time. A new one came yesterday, so today I spent time with a cup of hot tea, and a wonderful book on mostly daylilies, that made me feel better.
Then I get on line and goggle pictures of spring garden images! That only lasts so long, so then I get on gardening sites and order things I must have to put in my garden.
I feel better when I order and even better when the package arrives!
This is one "cabin fever induced" purchase that I am especially pleased with.
It is a column planter, very high quality material, with a side planting basket.
Then I spend time planning/ researching what plants will go best in this new planter, and I have to go over garden pictures to find the perfect spot for it!!
Now I must find a spot for this birdhouse that somehow showed up! Must have been one of those feverish days!!!!
Spring had better come quick, or I may have to start doing housework!!!

Comments (10)I went to Tucson last week for my Nana's and my joint birthday (I was born on her 40th--don't ask how old we are now). Since then I've been scrambling to catch up at work. I finally started my rock last night but ran out of daylight. I need to illuminate the mudpit...we're having an early Spring but it's still getting dark at 6:30 p.m. I hope to be able to finish tonight and then paint it after a few days cure time. Comments (20)No, that's what I mean. Wind shouldn't go through good clothing. You really need to be getting into the modern man-made fibers. It's still fairly expensive, but Gore-Tex isn't kidding. Athletic wear designed to stop wind works. Then the down and the wool layers go underneath, with a base layer of polypropeline. All that is good to about zero, and massive overkill for working outside around 30. I've been out pruning on snowshoes. The nice thing about standing on all that snow is that it makes you taller, so you can reach higher things. There are things that are fixable, and things that aren't. I don't think I have room to collect much more but wouldn't pass them up if I came across them at the right price.LOL Jane and Luvs, happy to hear I made you both chuckle. We all need that in our lives. I love the prices at ys compared to GW and other ts. If I didn't work I would try to head out every Fri or Sat. just for exercise and fun. A cold this time of year? 9 years agoIf we are not outside clearing snow, I am in my sewing room working on a project. I finished 2 quilts and have a third one waiting to be finished.
This is one I did for my sister as a Christmas gift.
And this is one I'm currently working on for my daughter

9 years agoThat's some gorgeous quilting ! I wish I had the knowledge to do that ,maybe one day .....in the mean time I spend my time making ornaments. It keeps me from going stir crazy and like you I need color so these are colorful ... made from recycled and new materials

9 years agoHi Julia , thanks so much for the nice comments . I use recycled pop cans and eggshells . sounds a little weird I know . however funds are tight for crafting materials so I needed to find something that was readily available and no cost . Then I just needed to add color and sparkle. So the only real additional cost is ribbons ( if used ) , a tiny bit of wire for the hanger and glitter ( if used) and fake jewels . I started with the regular sized pop cans which I use for my garden labels, so all that was left was the top or the bottom of the cans so that is what I started working with. All ornaments are double sided . Here are a few samples This is from the top of the can
Then I branched out to see what I could do with the end of the can that has the hole that you drink from . The center is cut out and ribbon installed
and then using the bottom with the walls attached and the permutations are endless but here is one

9 years agoSo then it was seeing what size pop cans I could get, the smallest ornaments like I showed above are about 2 3/4 " so next was what was the largest size ornament I could make from a pop can. The largest come in at about 13 inches made from canned Arizona Ice Tea cans. Here is a couple of samples
