Cabin Fever?:)

The main group is sure quiet.

I expect it to pick up tomorrow for the rock contest.

I'm up to my armpits in drywall paint and babysitting two puppies and have put my tufa on hold until the walls dry and I get the puppy pee out of my rug.:)

I went to Tucson last week for my Nana's and my joint birthday (I was born on her 40th--don't ask how old we are now). Since then I've been scrambling to catch up at work.

I finally started my rock last night but ran out of daylight. I need to illuminate the mudpit...we're having an early Spring but it's still getting dark at 6:30 p.m. I hope to be able to finish tonight and then paint it after a few days cure time. It will definitely be a late contribution. I'm just happy to be slappin' mud again!

I got a couple of carved 'rocks', just tufa and pigment, nothing fancy.
They are part of my unfinished lantern so don't qualify as rocks.
I can relate to your frustration.
I'm torn between finishing the workspace or using it in a complete state of disaster to work on my tufa.
So I do a bit of both which is really dumb and frustrating.:)
I have to suck it up and finish getting this space drywalled and painted.
Problem is I HATE drywalling and painting and I love playing with the tufa mud.:)

I haven't been able to get my leaves mulched and on the garden either LKZZ, too cold and too wet. Thursday I found some small, almost mummified, red potatoes sprouting in the cabinet that i forgot about. I went out to the shed and potted them up in a 2 gallon container, knowing that they won't make it. But I need something growing! I'm a little excited though, they have came up already and are starting to put on leaves! If I can keep them alive for about 3 months I'll try transplanting them. I'm ready for spring!

Hi Folks, Thanx, txtom for the link. Good info. I think my plan of attack will be to list the Mantis on Craigslist and get some $$ back, then go forward with the Predator. I don't want to end up with 4 running tillers in the barn. Actually, 6 as two are on permanent "loan." :-) Folks keep giving me stuff and I get it running again. I just looked at the local Craislist and was amazed at the number and condition of tillers being offered. None of them were Mantis though. I've learned that the Predator goes on sale about once a month for just under $100, so no hurry to capture the current sale price. Showing my age, but just seems WRONG to buy a "disposable" engine??? I have really enjoyed all of the pictures. Beautiful garden shot Silverkelt. digginde, your heucheras, hydrangeas, and butterflies are so pretty. I love the way you have so many nice plants together. Nancy VB, the butterfly house on the stump is a great idea, love the poppies too!! That is a butterfly house, isn't it? really enjoyed your album aquawise, iris are a favorite. the masses of daylilies that Juliany showed are so lovely, I found myself looking them over many times. When will winter end? WE got it again last night. I'm stuck inside, not even work today. More and more snow, ice and wind. But then it is gonna be up to 50 on Monday!! These pictures have certainly helped. Keep them coming. Here Jean, this is for you! Here is one of my favs of Bowie. Sarah, the lake is a small lake, and it is the reserve water supply for a nearby town, so it is relatively quiet and clean. There are no houses on the other side, and motor boats are only allowed on Sundays and holidays during the summer months. So it is very peaceful and quiet. A lot of people enjoy fishing on the lake. This is Incendiary, one of my first to bloom, as you can see, and the lake is in the background. More pics. I had to take that last picture through a window, as the Herons will fly away. You can see the second ones reflection in the water at the top of the picture. The Herons come every morning in the warm months to 'fish'

Hi Julia , thanks so much for the nice comments . I use recycled pop cans and eggshells . sounds a little weird I know . however funds are tight for crafting materials so I needed to find something that was readily available and no cost . Then I just needed to add color and sparkle. So the only real additional cost is ribbons ( if used ) , a tiny bit of wire for the hanger and glitter ( if used) and fake jewels . I started with the regular sized pop cans which I use for my garden labels, so all that was left was the top or the bottom of the cans so that is what I started working with. All ornaments are double sided . Here are a few samples This is from the top of the can Then I branched out to see what I could do with the end of the can that has the hole that you drink from . The center is cut out and ribbon installed and then using the bottom with the walls attached and the permutations are endless but here is one

This was the sixth weekend that it rained in Austin. Anyone from Seattle out there with coping skills on how to deal with all these clouds? I sure hope this spring is not like fall was. Can't tell me the weather has not gone bad. Soon we'll have a rain forest here.

I guess it fell off the forum. It was there yesterday. It was just me complaining about the rain back in November. I bought a new bag of Portland and some quickwall and It rained every weekend end from Oct first until the 2nd week in Dec. ItÂs still there in 5 gallon buckets untouched. But I woke up to a strange site this morning. There was brightness coming in my bed room window. I can't explain it.. it hurts my eyes. I don't remember what sunshine looks like.

I can't wait for real spring. On Monday, we had almost 68 degrees. On Tuesday morning, I woke up to 60 degrees but by noon it had blown up a blizzard, temp dropped to 20 degrees, snow, sleet rain and gusts up to 50 mph. What the heck is going on????? Tonight it will be in the teens, and very windy. I would welcome a 45 degree sunny day!!! BB

We are having some beautiful weather. Nice enough to work outside but not warm enough for tufa.
I'm in a horrible catch 22 funk, I need to get my shop finished so I can tufa comfortably indoors but I'm sick of all the construction, drywalling, painting so I'm avoiding it.
This means the workspace is not available to work on my tufa or woodworking(drywall sheets everywhere) which just depresses me further so I go out for a burger instead.:)
I'm looking forward to spring.

He he he he. I know what you mean. I am looking at unfinished drywall in my bathroom, no sink. I am so sick of working on it, I just ignore it, and do something else! We really should bite the bullet, and jump in there with both feet and get to work. I think I would feel much better if I got the work done, instead of ignoring it. Hmm. Next week I have a few days off, maybe I'll get it done. What say we make a pact, and all DO what we HAVE to do so we can tufa as soon as the weather turns???? BB
