corrosion seen on hot water shutoff valves

I was repairing a minor leak in the kitchen faucet when I noticed that the hot water shutoff valve was extremely corroded. The handle itself basically broke off. I looked under another sink and was the same way. Now there is none of note on the cold side. My house was built in 1969 and has copper piping. I'm on a well and have recently within the last 6 months had a new water softener and iron filter installed. Unsure if that would make a difference or not but anyway. My question is should I be concerned about this continuing through the rest of the house and is it something I should have checked out right away? Anyone's help would be very appreciated.
