I had it again today. I don't think every time but I don't come here like I used to so I really don't know if I'm getting it every time. Still getting it, that's all I know.

I'm not seeing that now, but I went through that multiple times before finally being able to log in -- which I couldn't do until day 2 after the switch to Houzz. But, Emily, I would like to know for certain if Houzz already had a user with Lindsey_CA as the registered username before Houzz took over GardenWeb. When I was finally able to get in, it was with "webuser_133899" as my username. Lindsey_CA only shows up because I put it in my profile to be my "publicly displayed" first name.

Whenever you get the msg that the user name is already taken it may be because its YOU. You can sign in under your old name if you can remember your old password and know the email addy connected to your old acct. But if you can't sign in because you don't know one or both of those...the msg will pop up. The computer still holds all your old info so your name will show ip as .....used.

No, Audrey, that's not correct. Houzz made it clear that a username may already be taken by a registered Houzz user. (Houzz was in existence before it took over GardenWeb.) I joined the forums at GardenWeb back in the day when you had to pay $15 per year to be able to post on certain forums (The Kitchen Table was one of them). I know exactly what my GardenWeb password is and what my e-mail address is, but when I tried it here on Houzz I would get an error message.

And, trust me, I'm not an idiot when it comes to usernames, domains, and passwords. Until I retired a little over a year ago, I was an Active Directory Domain Administrator for a large state agency, with approximately 5,000 users spread out throughout the state. Feel free to do a Google search on "What is Active Directory?"

Whoa I've not called anyone names. I just stated what houzz said to me when at first I couldn't sign in. I had to go back into some saved emails from yrs ago regarding a request I made to gw when I forgot my pw. They sent it to me. Thank goodness I saved the old email. Then was able to log in here.

I've been at the kt from the beginning. I do remember when it wrnt pay yo play. I couldn't afford it..but a kter paid it for me.

I didn't call anyone names, either. I said you were not correct. And to further clarify, it was Houzz that assigned me, via an e-mail to the same e-mail address I have always used for GardenWeb, the username of webuser_133899 .

Lindsay, I had trouble logging in at the beginning of the changeover as well. I contacted them via "contact us" and they immediately wrote to me. We tried a few things, and then they gave me a new username, webuser and a number just like what you have.

My posts would show up as that until I changed my First Name.

I tried to change my username to Jasdip and it wouldn't take it, so I just put a 1 at the end of it. At least I can remember that if I need to, and I seldom have to use my username. I keep logged in all the time.

Can you just ignore it? I was thinking I had to address The Big Confirm Box but Tamara confirmed I only needed to sign in on the upper right which always gets me in.

How does one get rid of "confirm your account" message? Sure I can get in, but that big green box is still there. No matter how many times I click it to confirm my account.

That message is there for anyone viewing the page right now while the transition to GardenWeb is fresh. Eventually it will not be so prominent. If you have already confirmed your account and are logged in, please disregard.

Emily could you please take a look at the post here titled avatar. Some one has an avatar that is not showing up on her posts. But she can see it. Hopefully you can resolve it.
