Old member - new to the birdwatching forum

I've been on Gardenweb
since 2003, and lurked on this forum over the years. Now that I've retired, I have time
to tarry at the kitchen windows and watch the birds at the feeders.

It's been snowy here in the mid-Atlantic so there are lots of birds.
I have three pairs of bluebirds, and two pairs of goldfinches and purple
finches, as well as a good assortment of blue jays, cardinals, wrens, finches,
chickadees, woodpeckers - large and small, and dozens of black birds, grackles
and cowbirds - who clean out the feeders very quickly.

I have squirrels, of course, and a plucky chipmunk who pops out of
hibernation every few weeks to restock the storehouse.

A pair of red-shouldered hawks showed up on Sunday - wow. And they
are hanging around. They seem to scare the blackbird flocks away, but not
the feeder birds.

I am looking forward to advice and to share in the pleasures of bird
watching.
