I just typed cursors in the start search box and all kind of choices came up. I made mine the largest black one they had. It is outlined in white.

Would this help? I have Windows 7. There is a setting in Control Panel > Hardware > Mouse > Pointer Options that allows you to have the cursor send out visual 'waves' to show you where it is. If you have a different operating system, perhaps you have something similar.

OOPS! I just realized this won't work for what mudlady is looking for. A text field, of couse, has a different cursor than the mouse. It's the mouse cursor that my above info affects, not the blinking cursor. Sorry. :-(

Bright, I like that name better. LOL Thank you for posting the visual, I had not noticed that. The only place I have trouble is in Windows Live Mail. I will try that.

1. Control Panel> Mouse> Pointers Tab

In the Scheme Box choose from the Drop Down Arrow

Then in the Customize Box use the Scroll and to see what the Scheme you chose offers until you find one to you liking.

2. Myself, I like using the Ctrl that puts the Circle around the Cursor, like not2bright already posted about above.

Easy way to find the cursor is to hit the "end" or "home" key. It will move the cursor over to the end of it's line. Easy to see. :-)

Another thought (based on what mxyplux wrote): if your concern is specifically to have the cursor show up at the very end of your body of text -- "find where [you] left off," as you put it -- you can hit Ctrl + END and the cursor will go to the very end of your document (not merely the end of the line).

When I edit something I have written I can't always see the blinking cursor. I would like to make it a different color, or larger. I have followed all the suggestions given and it seems that it should work, but even though I have checked the right boxes, no change has taken place. I must have some glitch in my computer to prevent me from making the change. And yes, I am referring to working within a text field.

Well you could coordinate the background color of the window and the color of the font. Then the black cursor would stand out handsomly.

Take lime green on white for example.....:-)

I misunderstood what you were asking, thought you wanted to know how to change the color of the Mouse Cursor. I now understand you to mean the cursor after the last letter you typed.

My problem is I'm not sure which Operating System you're using. In Windows 7 you can Change the thickness of that cursor, not sure about the color; Start> All Programs> Accessories> Ease of Access> Ease of Access Center> Make the Computer Easier to See> Make Things on the Screen Easier to See

I just tried it in Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit; adjusting it to 4 and it is much easier to see the Blinking Cursor while editing text in both Forums I use. Hope this has helped you. Still don't see where you can adjust the color, not saying you can't!

I ask the last question because a time or two while trying to edit(after first coming to Houzz), I'd click within the edit box where I wanted to make the change and got no cursor at all. Not just hard to see but totally not there. The only way I could tell if I was in the proper position to make the change I wanted to make was to type a letter or two and see where letters were appearing. That problem seemed to go away though. I had assumed, perhaps incorrectly, that Houzz techs fixed it.

Of course if you can see the cursor, it's there, just hard to see, that doesn't apply to you. I figured the accessibility change(widening the cursor) would help but maybe Houzz scripts are overriding it? I wouldn't think it should but I don't know.

I am retired now and write comments mostly on the two forums in which I participate most often. I like to proofread and edit because my typing is often atrocious and it is in the text boxes that I have to hunt to find my cursor. A larger, darker or different colored cursor would solve the problem.

Oh, I proofread email too.

Richard (chuggerguy), With using the Accessibility you are able to change the Thickness which does help seeing the Blinking cursor! I was editing my post with instructions on this when you made you post above. Anyway, it does work, just haven't found a way to change the color yet!

mudlady_gw, Read my post above posted an hour ago, it has instructions on how to Thicken the Blinking Cursor! I Like to go back and Edit my stuff too, I agree the Cursor is sometime hard to find! BTW, I use Outlook 2007 and this works in Outlook 2007 also!
