Flooring for road noise - Carpet or LVT

Hi Everyone,

We are looking into replacing our entire house of flooring. As much as we like the wood look tile, neither of us loves the idea of walking around on tile a lot, especially in the middle of winter.

We live close to a freeway and noise is not really a problem, but we currently have a lot of carpet in the house (old vinyl in wet areas, carpet everywhere else). We are beginning to believe that the carpet is part of why we have such little road noise and we are scared of losing it and suddenly having a road noise problem.

However, every time one of our three cats pukes on the carpet, I really want to get rid of it and replace it with a flooring I can actually "get clean" if you know what I mean.

Will we regret swapping out the carpet for LVT due to road noise?
