Comments (11)That's great news. I am happy for you especially since your son is military. No matter how any of us feel about the war, we appreciate our military people. We spent many holidays alone. Because of the parents and step parents issue, I decided what ever day my children could be with us was "the" holiday. The Christmas my oldest granddaughter was four, they were stationed in Abeline. We lived in San Antonio and my son's father lived in Kingsvile and my DIL's mother lived in Robstown. The kids had their Christmas at home and then drove to SA. The next day we had our Christmas. The day after they drove to Robstown and had Christmans at my DIL's mother's house. They went to my ex's on Christmas morning and had Christmas. Soooooo,my granddaughter got up the day after Christmas expecting it all to happen again. She was a tad disappointed....See MoreI'm bored, bored BORED!
Comments (14)Better yet come on up to British Columbia and I'll find lots for you to do - I am changing jobs in 2 weeks, going from caretaking apartment buildings to working at the head office. Before the new caretaker arrives I have 2&1/2 storage rooms full of crap I have to sort and either store somewhere else or get the goodwill to come and get. Meanwhile I have to paint and clean a unit for her to live in, patch paint another one and clean from top to bottom another one. In another building I have 3 suites that need various things done to them before they are rentable. I also have to put together some presentable work clothes for office attire, I have been wearing paint splattered clothing so long it will be a shock to wear something that is paint free.... add to that the regular duties associated with my job and my own life, and yep, I could really use your help if you're bored...lol. No time to be bored in this neck of the woods. Suzan J...See MoreAfter defoliating roses... how long until they totally leaf out?
Comments (12)Cori Ann, I never defoliate my roses (except my old HTs), but this year about half of them defoliated themselves, probably because of the weather. I have noticed a half dozen of the "naked" ones are starting to leaf out already - in our benign climate, I think it depends mostly on what type of rose it is. My once bloomers are leafing out - they tend to bloom earlier than the others each year. Dawson's Apple Blossom (rambler), the yellow banksia (banksia), and Belle Portugaise (hybrid gigantica). Also leafing out are all of the hybrid musks, and some of the tea roses (the other tea roses never stopped blooming, and are still blooming - like Duchesse de Brabant and Safrano). I did prune my 4 hybrid tea roses about a week ago. They are all mid 20th century, so I keep them in huge pots on the patio so I can spray them when needed, as unlike all of my other roses, they ALL get not only blackspot, but also rust. I do defoliate them, because the old leaves are horrible. Anyway, after a week all of them are starting to leaf out. So, I don't think you have long to wait! Jackie...See Morelizbest1
