I rather doubt the problem is a carbon deposit issue within the exhaust system causing excessive back pressure. I have Serviced and Tuned 1/2 dozen Echo's within the last few yrs and only one had excessive carbon fouling accumulation issues. In that case (Gas Trimmer)the owner had mistakenly doubled the recommended 50-1 Fuel/Oil Ratio and had compounded it with using a cheap variety store multi use 2-stroke oil . Never hurts to check your exhaust (muffler) but Echo mufflers can be easily damaged . I would simply check the spark plug and piston dome for evidence of excessive oily carbon particulate. I have serviced numerous Echo Saws and not one has shown evidence of any carbon fouling but then the Epa has pretty well looked after that within the last few yrs on the Professional Saw Market lol . If the unit has been used buy others and is older than your 2 yr scenario , then by all means the service and operating criteria could be suspect . As for ultrasonic cleaners they take much more than a few minutes to effectively remove any particulate or residual build up within a 2-stroke carb. However you are on the right track and have done most everything than ensure a new plug and properly tune the unit. I suspect you have cap limiters so there is not much tuning really required . Correction Sorry Dina,----Good catch Sierra- I confused the issue. I remember this subject coming up in a discussion a while back. I confused the end results though. Barbs are sometimes used in a Rift Cichlid tank as a "target" fish. (That whole subject is another issue all together.)Some fishkeepers said that they never had a problem with aggression between the 2. Others reported that the Barbs where the aggresors. Then some said that the cichlids killed the barbs. Anyway, In "most" cases barbs are highly reccomended for BBA removal. Some aquarists say they cultivate BBA to feed to the barbs. In my experience with algae eaters (allthough barbs aren't classified as algae eaters) they will eat the algae unless "spoiled" with wafers or supplements. Of course, not all fish stick to their "rule of thumb" profile. More often than not people that used barbs for BBA had great results. Barbs just have similar barbels as the SAE and a few other BBA eaters that allow it eat that type of algae. I confused the 2 issues of Barbs eating BBA and Barbs being kept with Africans. The water parameters are different, as I did mention. However, if the barbs are slowly aclimated to the higher pH they should be OK. It is still not unreasonable to keep them as a "cleanup crew". They could be kept in an adequate sized tank and the cichlids could be seperated by a divider or just removed until the Barbs did their task. I guess with Barbs, Discus or tank sterilization BBA is a pain in the arse.----- Again Dina I appoligize if you purchased some barbs.

Good idea, but you are right, I probably wouldn't like to add that expense. When I was working in a salon, we had sinks with kitchen type strainers that caught the hair and perm papers, etc. Easy to lift and clean after each customer. I am simply puzzled why we have strainers in kitchen sinks to keep debris from entering the drain, yet we struggle to keep bathroom drains cleaned out either manually (womanly in my case) or with harsh chemicals. It is curious that we haven't adopted a standard fix for the problem. I thought a bar sink, which has a larger drain opening than bathroom sinks (but smaller than a kitchen drain)and accomodates a kitchen sink type strainer would be a good solution, but I still can't determine if there is a problem plumbing-wise to put a pretty bar sink in the bathroom. Homebound, I have searched and searched online to try to determine if anyone makes an easily removable shower drain for cleaning but this is the only one if found that makes it clear it can be removed easily (without having to get a screwdriver)and I don't know if this brand is good quality. But why do we have such an inefficient system for keeping bathroom drains from becoming hair-bound?
