Quick follow-up. In sheer desperation, I just called their sales department in San Francisco, instead of their totally incompetent Customer Service department people (wherever they are . . . Calcutta?!?!). I happened to get a really nice, sympathetic sales rep who let me explain the situation to him. He then *walked* the phone over to a woman ~ Shawnee ~ who must be the only other intelligent person in that entire company. Within two minutes she had my tracking number, the date the bed was shipped out, the email address and phone # of the national trucking company it went out on and the tentative delivery date of my bed! She also gave me her phone and extension number in case the bed fails to arrive or there's another problem. I not only checked via the tracking number, but also called the trucking company to verify that it was on the way here. It's due to be delivered to their local Albuquerque warehouse today or tomorrow and delivered up here to our place within a few days after that. So, I'll post again when it arrives to let you all know if it turns out to be a good quality bed . . . and if all the parts arrived with it! Missheidi, thanks for spotting that!

Well, changing linens won't be that much of an issue, since it might get slept on maybe twice a year....but I do wonder if the back on the Overstock one is just too high. I have now realized that the "day bed" in the inspiration pic isn't even a day bed after all! Just a regular twin bed. I still want a day bed. This may be my late summer/early fall project. This house was reno'd 7 years ago and we just threw stuff in the room without much thought. Now my wheels are turning... of course I'll need a different (taller) table and a new rug and and funky floor lamp or wall sconce...and of course tons of pillows.

"Make the bed" means, um...geez, never realized how hard it is to say something other than "make the bed" lol. It means put all spreads, covers, pillows, etc, back in place, as if no one has slept in the bed. You know, make the bed. ;>)

The tufting and style are pretty but there are two giveaways that it isn’t a sofa - the sizable gap you mentioned between the top of the mattress and the back, and the depth between the front of the mattress and the back which, without pillows, will only allow you to perch on the edge. You could get a taller mattress or place a mattress topper on the one you have to close the height difference, then add a cover and a couple of large pillows on each end to help people sit upright. I wonder if it would be more economical and practical to exchange it for a tufted futon that folds down to make a bed when not being used as a sofa.
