Firefox and Chrome STYLISH add on to change the print and background

For people with Firefox you can download Stylish addon and then click on
the S icon in the upper right of your page, click on find styles for
this page, choose one and you're good to go. Mine has a cork background
and a nice soft gray page with bigger blacker print. Nice and neat. I
love it. You have a choice of three backgrounds. Most people in the conversation have changed and love it. Easy to do.

justgotabme Well, I just signed up to try firefox, I used it before, and I was asked to sign in using my GW account, so I think I'm back to the old spelling of justgotabme. Now I just have to remember how to get addons!

terriks Stylish has an extension for Chrome too. Just Google Stylish add on Chrome. I tried the Morning Glory first, but the text didn't stay in the text areas and ran over into the morning glory border.

justgotabme I figured it out. Thanks Yayagal! It I chose the morning glories and it looks almost exactly like the old GW! Love it. The background where I type is still light, but a pale lavender. Thanks Terriks. I'll try that and see if I prefer to stay with Chrome or change back to firefox. I used it for quite a few years, but changed to Chrome about a year ago.

DLM2000 BIG improvement!! Doesn't say a lot for the Houzz web designers that we have to do this on our own, but so be it - at least I can participate here again.

Funkyart Awesome.. thank you so much for sharing! I wonder who is creating these skins-- the three available for houzz are all new and reference the GW takeover. If it is someone on this forum-- thank you so much! I am opting to use the same background that yaya is using vs the morning glories.. but they are both great improvements!

SheeshareeII I don't know how long it takes to make changes such as this, but I'm wondering if the Houzz designers would like to keep it as is for a certain look and are hoping people 'adjust'. Hopefully not, since this isn't just about visual pretties.

molanic I found out about the Stylish add-on from the below thread on the computer forum. Richard on that thread wrote the first two I believe and I used his code to work on my own. I wanted something quite dark for my purposes and uploaded my style there too. He told me how to add user options so people could pick their own font, size, colors, etc. So I just did that today and made a few more changes including lightening it a bit, and then re-uploaded it. I tried a few different color schemes with the new options and it worked well for me. I detailed more of the changes on the userstyles site. You really should edit your post and remove all that stuff that somehow got posted on.
We have had a discussion thread here about the various add ons for browsers, Jasdip posted it several days ago, try searching for it .
Those unfortunately don't work for people on tablets.

hello, the machine is only 3 years old,yes i did destroy all the data on it after i formatted.i still have the larger drive but it won't read it. last night a neighbor gave me a windows 2000 disc and i formatted the drive again and it worked;it saw the full capacity of the drive and is ready to use, however when i try to bring the second drive with 225 + gigs of data on it it will not see it no matter how i switch things around bios won't read it, so i took it out, the drive i have working is set to master and is the only drive in the pc but bios says it is a secondary slave drive but it is on the primary ide channel and set to master!!everything in bios is set to auto detect drives,but as soon as i connect the other drive as a slave drive and reboot, the computer freezes and gets stuck on the post screen and hangs.funny thing is when i take that drive and put it in the hard drive enclosure that converts regular drives to use with usb and plug it into the computer i am on right now and reboot, windows comes up and says : found new hardware,mass storage usb device,your hardware is installed and ready to use,it even gives me a new drive letter,shows the drive as a western digital drive but... when i click on the drive letter it says please insert a disk into drive j....hmmm

ok lets see if I can tackle all this LOL yes you can change up the items and names to simply just have the favicon for the site there, just go to that one on the bar and right click on it then choose properties there you can change the name, eliminate the name or just put an initial what ever you want. If you have several that deal with one subject like news for example create a folder on that bar and move all the news related ones into that folder, which will give you more room. Tab mix plus the add on will give you a lot of options too. To change up your "chrome" as it is called like I did on mine so I only have 2 bars and no empty space, go up to the top and click on view> customize> and once that has opened then you can drag stuff around from bar to bar and move things where ever you want to, it is very similar to unlocking the bar so you can move it freely. you can do away with any buttons you do not need by just dragging them off the bars and into that box that opened when you hit customize, I also used from that box the smaller icons so I could fit more. I never liked having my bookmarks in sidebar and have not messed with it. I do think there are some specific add ons for that though. what you can do with your screenshot is upload it to imageshack then from there you can get the forum code for the thumbnail to post here so it will not take up much room, the code you want will have the Clipboard is where your computer saves things when you click on copy then you go some where and hit paste and it posts it from the clipboard. With fireshot once you click on the big red S and capture the pic you have options at the top of what to do with it, one upload that will upload it to a web server and give you the code for that picture to post here in a forum, Save click that to save the picture to your pc this is a good option just put it in your pictures folder and you can always find it. there are many options, but with fireshot I believe you can only capture the open page not the actual browser itself. Even when choosing full page it only captures the open page in the browser. so you will probably want to just use your screen print button that is on your pc. Up on the top row of buttons is the Print Screen button just click on that and it saves it to your clipboard, open your photo editing program and paste the pic in there, then you can save it, Also an easy way to do it is to open an email and click paste in the email and it will add it there, I do that sometimes and just email it to myself especially if I will be needing it on one of my other computers since I can access my email from all of them.

Apparently it's definitely different, I have multiple browsers on multiple operating systems, Windows, Linux, Android, but on none of them do I see the yellow with the text written on the yellow, all show the forum text on white. I just tried it on Android using Firefox, Chrome, Dolphin, UCHD, and stock. I can't get any with the yellow and text on top. That's strange.

Thanks so much for this. I'm using Firefox. Wow, I love the Morning Glory, it is soft and much easier on the eyes. Not so glaring! On your Firefox extensions area just search for stylish, there are several other very good add ons for Firefox that will make the changes including one called color the site. I will link to the other thread about it let me go find it.

I'm always hesitant to download FF add-ons because I've had some cause browsing issues at certain websites.

I'm curious about Stylish though, I've seen that you can change to some predetermined style that someone has created and I'm not interested in doing that with my page. All I want to do is change the font to something more pleasing to the eye and change the background color to tone it down a bit. Can I do that with Stylish? I've looked at a few videos and all I see is some format choices that I really don't want to use. Could someone tell me how to use Stylish to make my own choices of fonts and background colors?

I went ahead and put Stylish on my FF but I have no idea what to do with it. I changed to the Morning Glory style which doesn't do anything to improve anything other than have pretty Morning Glories on the side. The font is still exactly the same as before. Using Stylish is about as clear as MUD! I think it's for people that know how to design web sites which I have ZERO experience with web design.

OK I have been messing with this and changed the style to one of the
Houzz styles, the third one down on the style choices. This one gives
you the ability to change the size of the font. Also if you go to edit
it using the FF add on edit tool, you can change the code later to be
even bigger if need be. What I was doing wrong is, I changed the font
size but didn't realize that at the top of that page, you have to click
the SAVE button. Then(and only then) your changes will take effect.

If you find you don't like that one you can just go back into your firefox extensions area under tools and remove it and then try one of the other ones listed for firefox. Till you find one that works for you. On the link I posted there are several others listed.

Also, for those who don't want to download add-on's hold the Ctrl key while rolling the wheel on your mouse. If you roll the wheel up/forward the font get's bigger if you roll the wheel down/backwards you will get your font smaller. I'm using Firefox and it's worked for me. It doesn't change the font color or appearance but it makes it large enough to see. :) HTH

That's an easy way to increase the size of your browser/font, or you can click the plus or minus sign up at the top right. The ctrl key way is easier. I've never been up on key stroke use though :(
