My computer got hacked tonight
Comments (13)It's creepy how a bot can figure out your password and log into your e-mail to send e-mails to everyone on your address list. Really, the only thing you can do is just change your password every now and then. There have been two times when Yahoo told me that someone logged in from an unknown device in Japan. Usually I get a couple of bounced e-mails because a couple of the e-mails in my address book are as old as 1997 (Geez, have I been online that long?) so that's a heads up that someone or something figured out my unusually long and complex password. I'm just thankful they don't change the password on me after they send their junk e-mails through my account....See MoreWhat happened to my Loofa and Is My Garden Infected?

Comments (8)Just goes to show that even the experienced computer geek can come into contact with a possible invasion! This virus took on the format of the Firefox Browser making it appear legitimate, which would entice the unsuspecting computer owner to think they must have to click ok, which would actually start the process of infection. The Google link itself is the malicious content. This is proof of how advanced viruses, trojans, etc. has become. Obviously your WOT program did not target this because it was the link, and not the contents within the link. Never click ok or even mouse over a screen such as this. You're better off shutting down through your task manager, and shutting down the computer altogether. Don't even click on the red x. As I push heavily for safe/smart browsing, this is one instance where it is especially needed! Good catch, zep! Thanks for the "heads up"! bbbluz...See MoreDo just delete (I DID) or do the cleaning computer?
Comments (5)I am suspicious that such a message is from MSE. I am inclined to think you have a virus. Download and run Malwarebytes (www.malwarebytes.org) and Super Antispyware (www.superantispyware.com) -- both free -- run their scans, and report back. And, as azinoh says, if you are running both Avast and MSE at the same time, stop: choose one and disable the other....See More- 11 years agolast modified: 11 years ago
