Venus! Congrats and happy citrus growing! You will be amazed at how addicting this can be, espcially when you see your trees respond to your good care practices. I would repot in the spring and make sure you build yourself a great soilless mix in the meantime with getting familiar with the link I will provide for you at the bottom of this page. The 'mix' you choose will be the biggest determining factor to your success. It will either work for you or against you. How much you fertilize and with what will be determined by your mix. The best thing you could do for your tree is to make sure you keep the roots happy! The roots are the heart of a plant. It will also help you understand the concepts of growing in containers. Or you could buy yourself a very good soilless mix such as a Fafard brand and try that too. Most if not everything you do with/to your tree will be related to the kind of mix you choose to use. i dont have a moisture meter, but 50% sounds too wet to water again, and letting it dry out completely will stress the tree and cause its leaves to drop off when you water again. it's a bit of a judgment call, depending on the mix, the weather, temps, etc. i would guesstimate for summer time, about 20% and winter time 10%. from the pics, the mix looks like it has good drainage. what type of bulb is in the lamp? an incandescent is no good as it converts most of the electricity into heat. a high wattage compact fluoresecent (CFL) will provide more light than heat per wattage. also, try to move it to a south window. coming from an outdoor nursery setting and into a house, if it doesnt get enough light, it will drop its leaves, like when people move their citrus indoors during the fall.

Meg, it's true that a certain percentage of immature fruit drop from a tree, but I think it happens moreso changing environments. Just like many flowering plants drop flowers once they come home w/us. Also, a NE exposure may not be enough light for citrus,...a tree that devours sun. Is it possible to set outdoors in summer? If not, do you have a brighter window? South or west? Otherwise, your doing everything right. Good luck, Toni
