Will yours be installed in an island or on the perimeter? Our problem had to do with the fittings that screw onto the faucet and faucet controller under the sink. My DH had difficulty with the install as it was so tight. Be sure to give your contractor the specs/instructions for all of the fixtures now so he can design accordingly. This picture shows the reinforced back edge of cabinet and routed edge for sink. I wish we put holes where we originally planned, between top ledge of cabinet and the reinforced area where you see the circles drawn. We were so close to the back of the cabinet it made the install very difficult. I was not able to get shots during the install as my DH was verrry frustrated. He likes it now that it is way behind him. ;) Here is the underside showing the hole for the air switch. We should have moved the holes about an inch toward the sink. Hope this helps! Stages is a prep sink. If you're going to take advantage of its features, it's the place you prepare your ingredients. Since you have room for it, go for the big one. Part of the point is that you can use the accessories to make it into counter space as well. OTOH, if you tend to leave a lot of dirty dishes in your sink, hide them there, having a separate clean-up sink for hiding the dishes is a good idea. Alternatively, have you seen the Galley sink??

I had already purchased my sink and since it could not be returned, and cost a thousand dollars, I had it welded in. But I wish I'd have known that the fabricator could have made me one. They said it would have cost about half and they would have used the same gauge steel as my sink was so there would be no difference in quality. Live and learn...when we do our next I'll have it made by the fabricator. Do ask them to spray on some insulation (it's kind of a rubber spray) though as this helps with noise (I'm not a noise freak but it's worth while).

I was hoping scrappy would join the conversation. I just snapped a pic of mine and you can see it does not splash with the faucet on regular flow. I believe you need to choose the faucets carefully to fit your use, especially if wall mounted. One thing I'd like to mention though is that I would not want to give up the shelf to hand washing. That is my favorite prep area. As I've used my sink for six months now, I've developed patterns; I use the right 3/4's for prep and the area to the left of the drain for dirty/transitional stuff and hand washing. Hand washing is a main reason I went with the Kohler. My DH is not trainable regarding this and it's one of the reasons we chose the stages. I did consider this in the planning stage and have my fridge to the right of the landing counter, the trash and recycle directly below the center of the sink and DW to the left. We considered two faucets but ultimately went with one Kohler Karbon. It reaches all corners and i love that I do not have to hold it. I love it as much as my sink. The shelf is very handy during prep. That's where I open packages, put my prep scraps, actually it changes jobs continually and I have to say it is the most active part of my sink and I would not want hand washing there. I also place my small dish drainer there for cleanup. This is my typical setup except I usually use small colanders on the grate, then slide them under my cutting boards to keep the left clear for hand washing. In your case, I would consider a wall mount Karbon on the shelf side and the Hi-rise on the left.
