Guest bedroom help needed.
Comments (11)I have two yellows that are not screaming meemie that I love! One is SW Jersey Cream. (Posted in Gallery "Yellows" thread during painting/remodel process. To get to the Gallery just look at the options at top of page, right before posts start. You'll see Decorating, Gallery, Conversations. ) The other is an Ace color, Manor Cream. (I had the JC mixed by Ben Moore, but the Ace color I just used Ace paint.) Soothing, not jarring, calming. In a high light room the Jersey Cream might be too light for you, I used it in a lower light family room and it's perfect, it has mellowed to a buttery creamy golden. The Manor Cream I put in higher light bedrooms in a different house, and I can't get enough of that color when I'm there! (Sorry, no pics of that one) Despite the name, both are more yellow than cream for sure. In fact when searching yellows, I found a huge chunk of the agony is taken away if you shift your focus over to swatches of creams that have high yellow tint in them. "True" yellows (just like taupes/beiges) have the propensity to drive you crazy! And almost all were too jarring for my taste. Also, trailrunner has a yellow I had my eye on for ages but never used. After seeing it on her laundry room walls I regret not using it! Valspar (pretty sure it's Valspar line at Lowe's) Belgian Waffle. If you post and ask her for it, she'd probably oblige. She re-posted it for me once but the thread is gone (lost in one of the board software glitches we've had lately?)....See MoreHelp revamp guest bedroom
Comments (1)this is a case of too much but not enough. 1. small round night stands, and only two. no need to clutter the center with another table. 2. the lamps are too heavy and the wrong style for the bed frames. I would go with wall mounted swing arm lamps or adjustable to free up space on smaller nightstands. 3. I like the tray idea but get two and set them on the beds or store them until needed. 4. the two pictures on the wall are too small for that wall, and they should either be stacked or side by side not askew. Go for one larger picture there instead. 5. If you still have the wall paint, consider painted the slop the wall color to bring height to that area right now is boxed down and it makes that side of the room feel heavy. 6. Those benches you have are a better length, have them re-upholstered. And paint the frame an off white or antiqued finish. the half moon is too small and not the right shape, and also people might want to set their luggage or items there and still be able to sit....See MoreI need help redecorating guest bedroom - do these items work together?
Comments (13)I like a small desk or table in a guest bedroom. Many people will bring a laptop and will want to have a surface to work on, and it is not advised to work on the bed or your lap, it gets lots of lint and dust in there. That's why college students fry their laptops on a regular basis, they work on their beds and laps and on the floor, and lots of dust and lint get in them and they don't vacuum them regularly or replace the heat paste either. I would keep clutter to a minimum in a guest room and one of the ways to do that is to not have a bedside lamp. You can have wall-mounted sconces that are plug-in so you don't have to use an electrician....See MoreHelp for guest Bedroom furniture and decor
Comments (29)I would remove everything from the room except the bed and the chest of drawers. Select a rug and bedding, then new paint to coordinate with them. Add seating; either a comfy upholstered armchair or a pretty settee, and a luggage rack, which may fit in the closet if there's room. Plan to add a TV and charging station above/on the chest when you get it in place. Consider floating bedside tables to clear floor space. You may be able to use your corded wall lamps above them, but you may need to change the shades. I think your overall furniture vibe leans more masculine than feminine and would try to stick in the middle if possible....See Morerobo (z6a)
