Who's going to the movies tonight?

50 Shades of Gray opens tonight. I can't believe that no one has mentioned it, yet.

Fess up....who's going to go and with whom?

Not me, and I didn't read the book, but I remember that it was a KT topic when the book came out.

I don't go to movies based on what critics say if I'm already interested in it. Though I might consider one that I hadn't before based on critic reviews.

I refuse to support 50 Shades of Gray. I borrowed the books out of curiosity and didn't like the message at all. It's basically telling young women that abuse and manipulation is okay if the man is gorgeous and rich enough.

No interest in seeing it either. I want to see a movie this weekend but nothing good playing near me.

After having been in clinical research for 25 years, I thought the movie was pretty well done and did a good job of educating what it's really like. Of course, as I sat on the couch (friend who monitors research studies was sitting across the room) I'd "erupt" with a "THEY'D NEVER DO THAT!!" every now and then....where' the technical advisor, etc! I cried over the chairs that gradually sat empty in the infusion room as some women succumbed to their cancers, I hooted and rooted for women to get treatment. I was shocked by the cold demeanor of some of the doctors (even though I know THEY are out there) and I clapped over the small victories. (This is how I really am too!). Being in research you can be a "people person" and you really care about all of the patients that you interact with, for without them, your work means nothing, or you can be cold and block it out (not me!). Then...there are the rare UBERJERKS (Karl Reinhardt was portrayed as one in the movie and I hope that he's fiction because he's going to get some nasty letters!!) that are cold, harsh, and uncaring. Maybe in cancer research it's a coping mechanism because it's really only been the last 10 years that we've made huge strides in treatmen, and women who show up with advanced cancer do have options that didn't exist prior to 1998. The drugs that were represented in the movie last night (monoclonal antibodies) really are A MIRACLE....I thought the movie was worth viewing. I love that movie. I watch it every time it comes on. I saw it in the theater with my mom. I think I ran into a girlfriend and her mother leaving the theater. We all four cried during the getting ready scene. Just kills me to listen to slipping through my fingers. I love it so much and it makes me so melancholy, and so proud... all at one time. That song is hard to feel.

Movies in a theater give me a headache and with my arthritis, I prefer watching at home so I can get up and take a break. I have almost 400 movies. Right now I am watching the complete Reba series.

I saw "Black or White" this afternoon with a friend. Not a blockbuster, but enjoyable. Octavia Spencer is a trip.

DD and l are going to watch Gilda tonight. I saw it about 65 years ago, and thought, when Rita Hayworth sang "Put the Blame on Mame" was just about the sexiest thing I would ever see, and she kept her dress on! I still think that.

ISH why would anyone even consider going? It is an assault on women. It is not ok to glorify treating anyone that way!! I am sooo pleased all the reviews say it stinks. Some day America will reach its limit with all this garbage--I am praying this is the beginning of the end of it!!

We saw "A Very Violent Year" last weekend. The acting was good, but I found it slow moving and boring. But Oscar Isaac, where have you been all my life??? Simply gorgeous man, and a very good actor.

thought the book was poorly written and didn’t get the hype. I keep seeing the
actor that plays Christian Grey. I don’t
like him with the hairiness. I prefer the clean shaven look. Other than that, the casting of him and Anastasia
were close to what I had pictured

I'm going tomorrow for the matinee show. I've been waiting forever to see this. As for me I don't go by what the movie critics say. I would rather form my own opinion.
