I've been running a thread on the Building a Home forum that substantially repeats this thread and refers to our FAQ. The issue of private versus public albums on Photobucket came up (I thought the whole album had to be public to allow you to link to it without a password). aa62579 says that you can link to a specific photo in a private album and that link will be visible. You just can't link to the whole private album and see it without a password. I've never used Photobucket so I'm asking the question of those of you who are familiar with sites such as Photobucket, Picasa, PictureTrail, etc.. Is this a general characteristic of all web-hosting sites? I'd like to add this information to the FAQ. Thanks, Claire

Thank you for all of that. It's not that I have a problem really with code, or at least that rudimentary subsection of html coding for webpages and blogs. ...i took a basic computer coding class in college and dropped it within the first two weeks for something less mind boggling.... i think it was advanced calc:) Part of it is for loading pages more easily. Part of it is to allow larger more detailed images to be viewed one at a time at the reader's discretion rather than opening six huge images at once. Part of it is not screwing with the right margin of a thread and throwing off everyone else's format (that's pretty annoying). "Yeah, finding a host that hands you the code might be easier but once you learn to do it that way you may behooked. :)" You're correct on that. I have used it, though not nearly enough to make it second nature, to put images side by side in a thread to save linear space and it just looks better in some circumstances. I've used it as well to place an image wrapped in text... that has a very professional look to it. For some dang reason, and maybe it's just the terrifically bad luck of trying to post hyperlinked thumbs in forums that strictly prohibit it. Though that would be hard to understand since all of those forums allow image insertion,. Is it possibly the case that some forums reject any code that is not included in their button menu above the text message box? The "insert" and "image" etc? I do like to learn. But frankly I would be really happy to find a zero nonsense, coding tool for idiots, where anyone could insert text url or image url into prescribed actions (photo wrapped by text, two or more photos on same row, hyperlink photo or thumb or text to another web based url of photo, thumb or text.
