's January 2015- How is your build progressing? - Part 2
Comments (58)Carson...thx! Your place is looking gorgeous as well. I love all you trim detail going up. Zoe....thx! Your place is coming along beautifully, too. I love all the arches that you have throughout your home. For perspective, it took our builder around 2 months after cabinetry was installed to our completion date. Builder wouldn't give us a projected move in date until that point, too. Mrsb...love the light fixture! Michelle...thx...that was exactly my goal. I worried with changing our color tones from warm beiges to cooler tones that it would look cold but the BM reverve pewter is one of those great neutrals that combines both. Our baseboards are 9" with the room height being 9' Mattiepies...I love my BM reverve pewter! For my basement vanity I used BM la Paloma...looks much cooler but no blue undertones. CZscrap...looks like some beautiful views! Dreamer16...looks like a beautiful classic brick home Juniper...think your trim looks great! I agree with Amberm that once your stone goes up any thought of white will go away. I also think the white would have been too stark with the dark windows. Are you carrying the creamy tones into your interior trim? I think that it would bring some continuity to it instead of jumping to something really white inside...See MoreIKEA butcher block- has anyone seamed lengthwise for island top?
Comments (14)Hi, homepro01. The reason I didn't state a budget is because it is a bit of a moving target. I don't have a budget just for the island, it's for all the counters in the house. Thus, I am doing a lot of option exploring and shifting around to try to find a combination that works and is as close to budget as possible. I'm finding that our GC's initial countertop budget was kind of a joke, though. :-( Thanks for the fastener link! That looks really useful!...See MoreNo IKEA summer sale this year (2015)
Comments (54)My understanding is that you can bring your receipt back into the store when the sale starts, and claim the promotion-after-the-fact. The family card offers 90 days or price protection. However, a salesperson noted to me to be sure the family card number is added to the sales receipt; it's not enough just to have the family card; that specific sale has to be hooked up with the family card number. I didn't ask about lighting. From what I gathered, you need everything grouped on one receipt, and at least with my local Ikea, the cabinet transaction was processed in the kitchen cabinets area by that dept's sales staff. As long as they can process items are part of the cabinet order transaction, I imagine it's included -- and if they cannot, it is not. Back when I had some in-cabinet lights on my floorplan, I seem to recall the cabinet lighting showing up on the shopping list that the planning software generates. It makes sense to me that at least those lights would be on the cabinet "side" of the operation. A small item to make sure to count, if it's relevant - ikea sells glass drawer sides and in-cabinet dividers (the white partition - things). If you'll be buying any, the codes for those items is clearly posted by the cabinet order computers. So you can definitely include those little items when trying to hit $4000. Everything I just wrote comes from things I was told or observed at my store. To be safe, I'd double check all any of these details if they are consequential....See MoreWhat's Blooming in Your Garden - a Photo Thread - June 2015 Part 2
Comments (51)Several of the perennial Geraniums are in bloom, include this dark-leafed variety, probably Midnight Reiter. It's much looser in growth than I expected. The reverse of clematis Rebecca There's quite a bit in bloom now, but the dark buds of this hand-me-down phlox is nice. Bed behind the house, mostly blue, purple, orange, and gold. Not sure of the clematis ID off the top of my head, but the daylily is the weedy old-fashioned one, perfect for holding the slope, Knophia is a seed-grown unnamed, and the Caryopteris is Sunshine Blue. Further along, Scabiosa Butterfly Blue (which needs deadheading) with a young Spiraea Ogon And a favorite clematis that seems happy here, Venosa Violacea. And turning around, the corn is so far past the "knee high by the fourth of July" goal, that it's already over the farmer's head, so it must be close to 6' already. The wet spot on the left side is wet again after about 5" of rain in 10 days or so....See MorePatricia
