IKEA butcher block- has anyone seamed lengthwise for island top?

Hi everyone.

We are trying to find a cost effective countertop for our large island (48" by 117"). This is proving frustrating as everything we suggest, including butcher block, is met with "Well, that's expensive." I thought butcher block is supposed to be relatively cost effective? I'm being told $90 a square foot, which is hardly a steal. I've seen that lots of people like their IKEA butcher block, but it only comes in panels that are 24" deep. Has anyone successfully put two together for a wider top?

Thanks!
