I chose the Kingsley in brushed nickel. I have no idea what's causing the problem at this point. I have not called Moen or contacted a plumber because we rarely use the tub/shower and so we can work around the issue. Basically, we've determined that if you pull the water into the on position while the temperature is turned to hot, turning the handle into the cold position will not produce any cold water (it will remain scalding hot). If you pull the faucet to on while in the cold position, then you can adjust the temperature while the water is on. I had a plumber install the valve (which I purchased from a local plumbing store), so I think the valve was installed correctly. I really need to call Moen and find out what might be causing this issue. I really really hope it's not something that will require replacement of the valve, as I tiled the bathroom myself and loathe the thought of tearing it out and re-doing it.

We have installed the Moen Kingsley set in our just-remodeled master bathroom - faucets, towel rods, t.p. holder, shower, grab bars. It's a very handsome and sturdy design. The faucets are single handle and work perfectly. Both our plumber and our GC commented on how well-made the pieces are. BTW, the Moen Kingsley t.p. holder is a new design, very clever and so simple. The bar that holds the paper swings up, you remove the old roll and slip on the new one, and swing the bar down and it clicks into place. No more springs rolling across the floor and no way the paper roll can slip off. Why did it take 100 years to figure this one out? : > )

Hi Kitmu and Jjaazzy. I ended up using Grohe Allure in the masterbath instead. Here's the tub filler. And here's the lav faucet: My whole house reno is taking 27 times as long as expected, mostly because I am the GC and am trying to feel my way through this. Oh, and the plumber was an idiot who drag on the bathroom plumbing for months before we finally realized he just didn't know what he was doing. He's fired now. :) So, I can't tell you how I like the Grohe Allure or the Tea for Two tub. The tub was a bugger to get into place with the three walls surrounding it. Everyone had different opinions as to how to get it in place and how to build the tub deck surrounding it. The installation and deck/material has been a major PITA. I might have thought twice about buying that tub for that enclosure if I had known how much trouble it was going to be. It's just sitting there empty calling to me now. I hope the first soak is worth it!

My Plumber charged me "His Price" $375 for a Moen 7594SRS. he insisted he buy from Ferguson. . Home Depot has them for $255. I called Ferguson and was told the price was $375, AFTER he determined I was a homeowner not a contractor with an account. When questioned why so much more than HD, Randy told me that their faucets were higher quality than HD which has inferior plastic parts. When I said the part number was the same so that couldn't be true, he said "I wouldn't lie to you". He did! I found out Contractors with an account get a 40% discount at Ferguson, but they get an invoice for full price; perhaps to show the client? 40% off $375 is $225. This from the Moen website says quality is all the same, they don't make lower quality for "Big Box" stores: Q. Do all Moen products consist of one standard of quality regardless of whether the distributor is a retail or wholesale supplier? A. Moen's production line does not differentiate between wholesale and retail models. There is only one grade of brass, only one grade of cartridge and only one grade of warranty coverage - the best. While the numbering system for Moen's wholesale distributors and retail distributors may vary and subtle installation and trim differences may exist (these may include, but are not limited too, packaging, threaded or slip-fit style tub spouts and metallic or non-metallic drain assemblies). The quality and limited lifetime warranty against leaks, drips, materials, and workmanship remain the same for all of our products. Not sure if it makes things any clearer for you. If you like it I'd go for it, you have the warranty and unlike certain bathroom fixtures repairing a kitchen faucet isn't that problematic. Watch out for lying Plumbers and Ferguson clerks
