Comments (5)I just discovered Weiman's Stainless Steel Cleaner Wipes and I love them. We tried the Pledge, but it didn't take all the fingerprints off & definitely did not work on the drip marks. I use these once a week or every other week. For everyday cleaning I use just simple soap & water. Someone posted recently about using Bar Keeper's Friend on their stainless and ended up with spots they couldn't remove--so I don't know that I'm brave enough to use it on my range (although I do use it in my sinks and cast iron tubs). For the grates, I run hot water in the sink, toss in 1 or 2 Cascade Dishwasher Packs with Dawn and let them soak for about 15-20 minutes. While I wait, I use a Mr. Clean MAgic Eraser for Kitchens and wipe down the enamel stove top between and around the burners. Then I return to the grates & wipe them down with the Magic Eraser to take care of any residue that may still be clinging to them, rinse with hot water and set out to dry. I do this once a week or every other week....See Morestainless steel appliances, sink and faucets--how to keep clean
Comments (22)morton, I also expect to see wear and patina over time with my ss sink. At the moment, I think I'm in "new car" mode - I want to preserve the shiny newness of everything for as long as possible! DH hasn't seen me clean so much in all the time we've been married :-) Having said that, I have a scratch on the cooktop and an indelible mark on our wood island top already - no biggie. We wanted to choose things that would appear to be appropriate for our old house and old houses have patina. Our old kitchen had a ss sink that was at least 20 yrs old and I certainly didn't baby it the way I'm doing with this one. Looked just fine. I guess it goes back to the linen pants analogy that's often used to determine whether someone would love soapstone or not: if the wrinkles bother you, it may not be for you. And we have soapstone too so I guess you know we don't mind a ding or two! Eliz...See MoreHow do you clean your stainless appliances?
Comments (22)I tried alot of different products with not much success. I really sorta hated my new stainless appliances...I'm not one to do a great deal of cleaning so I couldn't believe the maintenance with these darn things. Anyway, I think it is important on these threads to mention the brand of appliances you have. Even though it's all stainless steel, I do think they are different. I have all GE Profile appliances. The product that has worked best for me is the Weiman spray. I get it at Wal Mart. Spray it on a cloth and wipe. And I agree with Boxerpups, the Weiman SS wipes do not work as well. Unfortunately, you are probably going to have to try a few products till you find the one that works best for YOUR appliances....See Morezorroslw1
