The timing of the clogging couldn't have come at a worse time. Good old Murphy's Law. I'm just thankful like you are that you hadn't started drinking your prep and I hope the plumber gets things fixed and doesn't charge you an arm and a leg, with it being the weekend.

Oh that's just awful - and as you said - thank heavens you didn't start the prep. Could you have spent the night in the RV and used the ..ah..facilities there?

I have the RV set up now as a backup but not someplace I would want to be long term on that toilet. To say the least it's not the most comfortable quarters for those circumstances.
The plumber has finally arrived! 8pm.

Well we had no luck with the plumber. He tried snaking the drains but it didn't work. So still no toilet,or bath, or anything else that goes into the septic tank. Not good news.

I was having the scope done at a surgery center not the hospital so no that wasn't an option. Just have to reschedule when I can.

Oh no, so what's the next step since the snake didn't work?

Oh you poor thing! What terrible timing! I think I would have checked into a hotel for the night.

The plumber couldn't fix the problem? Are you on a septic tank? If so, that may need cleaned out. I sure hope your problem can be fixed soon.

OMGoodness! Having had many scopes myself, I know what a horrible time this would be dealing with plumbing issues.

I hate when things happen at timings like this. You know, an appointment you want done and to not have to reschedule and plan for again. And plumbing issues are just a bit stressful no matter what, given the nature of nature's ability to call. I hope all is well now, and I wish you and your husband the best when you two finally have your appointments.

Well it's a new day and still no toilet. I have a septic tank cleaning company coming sometime this afternoon to drain the tank.
Apparently what has happened is due to the extreme amount of rain we had in a short time period. We are in low lying land as is all of Houston basically, so our yard is literally under water, flooded except for a few high spots. This is the norm here in these kinds of rain storms. But this time it caused my septic system to drown. The lateral lines that are buried in the ground and drain the liquid off the top of the septic tank are actually under water so the ground around them is fully saturated and unable to absorb the water from the lines which in turn causes the tank to top off and when you flush there's no place for anything else to go.

We have been very lucky because this has never happened to us before. We have had septic tank repairs, drained, and the lateral lines rotor rooted out but this is a new one for us. However it's pretty common here and that's what we were told since we have had a deluge of rain. It's also why the septic tank company is busy.

We will have the tank drained, that allows the ground time to dry out some and the lateral lines to drain.. We have had septic tanks at many of our homes, including my parents house, and have rarely had any problems. It really is all about how low the land is here and the water table, sea level.
We had so much rain so hard and fast it started leaking in the house around one of the door frames.

I am really praying for some dry weather!

I will say that if you are ever in need of an emergency potty they sell them at Academy sports, in the camping area! Lol the things you can find using Google!

The septic tank has been drained and the toilets are flushing!
woo hoo I have never been so happy about a toilet in my life.
He said that was exactly what happened and I was not the only one it happened to.
we may need the laterals re cleaned at a later date but for now that is all they can do with the yard so wet and it has fixed the current problem.

I will be starting it off with a colonoscopy as soon as it can be scheduled unless I take my husbands slot next Monday. We have both had numerous ones but it is that time again.
Hopefully no more problems!

Glad your problem is fixed...but did have a chuckle picturing this in my mind.

I used to work someplace that had a septic tank, and this exact thing happened. Well, the flooding, not the colonoscopy LOL. We had so much rain that the thing filled up with clear water, and even started backing up into the toilets. That tell tale gurgle!

They kept having to have it pumped to remove the water. Finally the saturation dropped and it stopped filling up with rain water.

But it is as good an excuse as any to skip that scope!

When it rains that hard, use water VERY sparingly until everything dries out. I speak from experience! Glad you hadn't started prep.
