That's a small 2 person 24'' bistro table. Even then, that 5' dimension will be tight for adults to access. It's only 18'' per person, which is way less than the 30''x 30'' square than an adult will occupy.

If you gave up seating on one side of the table, you might be able to do an L shaped banquette. No chairs at all would fit on the other side of the table though.

Perhaps something like a restaurant booth? It would depend on the orientation of the 5' and the 8'.

We have a U-shaped built-in banquette at our lakehouse that is probably close to 8' in back & 5' on the sides. I was inspired by a photo I saw in Cottage Living, which I'll attach.

Thanks for the responses. It's just for the two of us so I think this might work.

I have a breakfast table in a 3'x6' space (seats 2), so I'd say 5x8 is feasible. I have a 30"x42" table (I got it at a restaurant supply store; it's designed for a booth), with storage benches at either end for seating (the 3 ft depth doesn't allow for seating in back). There's no question that my setup is a little cramped in how much the table overlaps the benches, but it makes great use of what would otherwise be a dead corner. And you have an extra 22 square feet.

The restaurant booth idea works. It sound like you could also do a 3' pedestal table and two chairs, as long as the chairs could be oriented in the 8' dimension.
