The birds would think they were at a 5 star Hotel when they used it. Maybe you could carefully put some pea gravel in the bottom, maybe an inch, then they wouldn't slip. Jennie

Kirk, we can't find any "American rust" that isn't priced at the antique level! DH found some old barn wood at a great price and we're hitting all the flea marts and yard sales for the iron work, to no avail! Luckily he's a partially out of work wood carver and can carve some brackets and decorative things to add to the bench! I'm thinking of taking up carving myself! Delightful! Your pieces are inspiring. There is a whole box of pretty dishes at a local ts for 50 cents each. Dark green with a white "lacy" edge. I bought one to break for mosaic but it didn't pass the tongue test to use out side in broken form. (the broken part stuck to my tongue, indicating it is too porous and will absorb too much moisture for outdoor mosaic) Wish I could have right side up plates on totems here in freezing land, they would be fantastic. (Back side is white). I might have to get somemore anyway to make ceramic plate flowers. Kathy

But there is no good reason why stale bread cannot be composted." What??!! Well, which is it, "not a good idea" or "no good reason why stale bread cannot..."? Or were you just trying to be funny?
