Repurposed China Hutch

I wanted to share this repurposed hutch I added to my kitchen. I hunted for quite a while for the right-sized piece on Craigslist and had it painted. I still need to find simpler pulls for the drawers.

This is my beverage center for coffee, tea, hot chocolate, wine and cocktails. I have all my loose leaf and bagged teas nicely organized in the drawers along with infusers, which is heavenly for a tea drinker like me.

You can absolutely do that. I put a 55gal on an old (not antique) sideboard - cut an access hole in the back panel so that I could house the air pump, etc inside the cabinet (along with tons of supplies) and had the tank on top. It looked great - much prettier than the 'style deficient' stands that are sold for aquariums.

Thanks everyone for all of the feedback :) I like using pieces where they work rather than having rules. Yesterday was moving day and sadly when we unwrapped the top piece after several years I realized the shelves weren't set up in a way that would easily work for my intended use. Since it's an antique and I know his mom wouldn't approve of me reworking it, I left it there. Thanks again :) We did get a few really great pieces and two sets of China (one german that was his grandmothers). So, it was a great move all in all.

Sadly I doubt very much if selling it is an option and certainly not for enough money to get much of anything new. Oak does not paint well, and even if it did paint does not make a thing smaller!! I think the dishes on display makes them ready and available to be used. If not there they will be packed away and the trouble to unpack will keep them in boxes. Do you need all that seating? Perhaps a bench to replace the chairs on one side would keep people from knocking into the hutch. How often is the room used? I would be surprised if you found a skinnier hutch...they are so out of favor right now but I think they are lovely and so useful. The problem is the room is not suited for more than a table and a couple of chairs.

Need Help Identifying the Brand of This China Cabinet Hutch

I need help figuring out what brand this hutch is. I have checked all over for stamps or labels. All I have is a number 800670 792. It comes as a matching set with a dining table and the chairs had the same flowers engraved on the parts that would be against shoulder blades. tracking down furniture from my childhood, was lucky enough to stumble on the hutch and needing brand to try and find the dining table set. Thanks, everyone. I'm on the lookout for two other used furniture pieces on Craigslist -- a wardrobe for a guest bedroom and a secretary to be repurposed into bathroom storage for towels and bath products. I think it's so fun to use old pieces in new ways.
