Comments (9)We signed a simple contract (no fancy company form) with a plumber. They did not show up, nor called until I called them. They said they will show up some other day, not sure when. A long story short - they rescheduled, but seemed uncooperative after I wanted a county inspector to inspect their work (after they would be done in the future) and after I asked them to pull a work permit. They seem not to be licensed with Residential Builder's Commission. Now they told me I must wait nearly 2 months to get my money back as they say they already bought the materials for the advance payment that I paid them. I said it's ok to refund part money and part materials for the job, but they still unhappy and they now told me the plumber went to a hospital for 1 month. I think they are liars and they just trying to keep my oney, but they don't realize how big of the trouble they got themselves into since I'm gonna file a complaint of unlicensed contractor to the State Investigations and Enforcement commission etc. I guess I hit the scammers yet again... but I know what to do: report them, they get fined, cease and desist and prison time, then sue them in Small Claims Court and go to the end until their property gets sold and I get compensated. The money they got from me is over $1000 (for buying materials). I also will write and post my story in the forums and on a blog, so their plumbing company gets really damaged and hopefully they will not get much business anymore. Comments (52)Actually someone was using the room when I took the pictures, so the books on the small table are theirs and they moved the Kleenex there from the dresser. And their toiletries bag is that black watch thing on the dresser. They put the throw on the bed. I am totally against crown molding in individual rooms. Either the entire house has it top to bottom (excepting the bathrooms maybe), or nothing has it. Crown molding is architecture and it should be consistent from room to room, not piecemeal. The first thing I do when I walk into a clients house and see trim that is different designs in different rooms is suppress a desire to get out a crow bar and start taking it down. Crown molding is an all or nothing proposition in my design handbook. I agree it will be appropriate in a house like this, but unless she ponies up enough to do the entire house, it stays naked. I find the comments about the art interesting because (again this thread stemmed from thoughts about this room) in the "How much personal resonance?" thread, the Vast Majority of people said that they buy art for it's meaning and that they do Not buy it just to GO with the room, and here most people are criticizing the art, because it is All pieces that have some personal connection to either the homeowner or the guests who frequent the room. So either a lot of people don't practice what they preach or it is a completely different subset of people who answered each thread. Comments (27)We were in the olive garden one night and the folks at the table next to us never got off their phones.It was a couple and the girl was talking to someone about her dad,and by the time we were served i could have told you where her dad worked,what he did for fun,what kind of car he had and who he was ticked off with at the moment.Couldn't hear much of the guys side as the girl talked too loud. ON dr phil one day this was his subject,and he had parents complaining about their kids,and it showed these 2 GF'S sitting on the couch and they were texting each other instead of talking.WTH MY GD came to live with us in june,she's almost 25 and that damn phone is like another appendage of her body.Told her right out,that when we sit down to dinner it goes off,and if she is out with us it's to be on vibrate and she's only to answer it if it's an emergency.So far,so good.She knows we are the "My house,my rules kind of folks",and don't plan to change that anytime soon!!!
