crcollins: Thank you for your suggestion. Beautiful colour scheme!! How did you get the smaller bowl on the left? This is what I am looking for, and in white too. Can you please advise which model this is? And what is the depth of your sink? I haven't been able to find a white, low divide with smaller sink on the left.

I have the white double bowl blanco silgranite in a 3cm granite. I'm 5'2". I cook a lot and do dishes constantly. My back hurts from standing on my feet all day, but not from the deep sink. I love my sink. Wouldn't trade it for anything!

Thanks everyone for detailed info. In Canada, it's looking like my only option for white is the Diamond which is 9.5" deep and staying consistent with my original problem which is depth. I am 5'5" and this is a long reach down (11 inches) from the top of the 3cm countertop. Thank you for the suggestion of sink grids. Does anyone find that smaller things like baking teaspoons get caught up or snagged in the grid? I have never used a grid before.

I have the Super Single which has the same depth of 9.5", along with 3cm granite. I'm also 5'5", and I do not have any issue with the depth at all.

i have a diamond but it's the 1 big bowl and one small bowl kind. i was concerned about the depth too but it is fine and i am 5'3". actually now that i have gotten used to it, the small shallow bowl bugs me. since it always has silverware in it, the shallowness makes it seem really full:(

I have a Blanco Silgranit Diamond equal double bowl in anthracite with a soapstone counter. That makes the sink depth ~10.75''. In addition, the counter depth in front of the sink is ~3.75''.

I love the sink. I really wanted a bigger, deeper double sink than the one I'd had for 30 years.

But. I've had it for 4.5 years (we remodeled in the summer of 2010) and since then I sustained a back injury (compression fracture from cross-country skiing in March of 2013.) I do find that when working at the sink for prolonged periods of time it bothers my back - a lot. I am 5'4'' (I hope), and I would say that the sink depth bothered me a little pre-injury, but a lot more now. The counter depth in front of the sink is also a factor.

I know my experience is outside the norm, but something else to think about.

Like I said above, I'm 3" shorter than you and I have no issues at all. I'm not sure what you're so worried about. My sink is dirty - sorry - but here's a picture just now with a tape measure. You can see it is 10.75" in the center with my 3cm granite. I don't know how anyone functions with a shallower sink :)

I love my super single! Mine is the Precis, but same depth as the Diamond, I believe.
Actually, if you think about it, wouldn't the deeper sink be harder on a tall person, having to bend over more?
That said, I'm 5'-10", and no back issues here with 3cm Soapstone. I did add the grate after about a year, but that was not so much because of the depth, I just like the ability to drain certain things without sitting on the sink bottom. Chris

Yes, my main concern is the reach down from being taller = sore back. I am 5'5" and my partner is 6' and he already gets a sore back washing dishes in our 7.5" deep sink. I'm having a problem finding anything shallower than 9.5" in white siligranite, 1.75 bowls. Any suggestions appreciated.

Are you redoing everything? Another possibility is to raise the height of the cabinets...38-39 instead of 36. You can test this now by creating a higher work surface and seeing if you like it.

While standing for long periods at a deep sink can cause backache for taller people who have to bend more, there are other causes of back ache at the sink. And there are other ways you can mitigate the issue.

Get a faucet that reaches farther toward the front of your sink. Some of the high arch faucets' spouts are very close to the rear of the sink, and make you have to reach farther, which means bending more. Even just a couple of inches make a difference. You can look for faucets that have a longer reach toward the front, of 9" or more. One nice one is the Hansgrohe Allegro E Gourmet, either the high arc version (10-3/8" reach) or the Semipro version (11-3/8" reach), but there are many other faucets to choose from. My point is, be mindful of the reach length of the faucet you choose.

The type of floor you have can contribute to backache. Tile can cause back strain for some people. If you are able to, try a cork or wood floor. Also buy one of those gel mats to stand on in front of the sink (there's been some threads about those on this Forum, if you want to google).

As noted in posts above, a sink grid will help because it raises the depth another inch or so.
