stray chin hairs and break outs

the last few years it has gotten way worse, but on both sides of my chin below the corners of my mouth I get stray chin hairs--not especially weird--like eyebrows, sometimes just one sometimes maybe half a dozen, a couple are white. They are difficult to pluck--do not want to come out easily and they are very irritating.I also get tiny white spots under my skin near them and they are like odd little pearls about the size of a grain of salt but they have to be scraped out like a splinter. And if I leave them and the hairs alone, they get inflamed and blister and take months to heal only to come right back in the same spot after only a couple of weeks of being clear! What a pain! This is worse than having acne! They hurt, itch, sting and generally look bad. Anyone else have this? I have tried everything to treat them with and so far nothing helps more than a couple of days and they get all inflamed again. No infection, not pimples, just sore bumps and crazy hairs and tiny pearls... ?????

As for the hairs, I have sugaring done once a month and have for 20 years. Cleans up my eyebrows, upper lip, chin, etc. Sugaring is nicer than waxing. The esthetician will be able to get hairs you may not see. Also a good facial may help with your other skin issues.

I have never tried sugaring , thanks! I have tried everything from facials to expensive face creams to natural home-made stuff to RXs. Nothing works. The best the docs can say is that it must be a hormone thing. :(

I haven't used mine long enough to know how long it lasts. Seems fine so far. I gave the second one to my sister, and she then ordered another to give one to her daughter. They make a nice gift, but it is a personal care item, so you want to be sure it would be well received. Donna (above) posted a link to one which is much better priced. I measured and it's about 1/4-1/2" shorter, but otherwise it looks identical and might be just as good.

I started getting chin hairs about 7-8 months after giving birth via C-section to my last child and a tubal ligation. I was still nursing, but they showed up about the time of my first post-natal period/cycle. They have been with me ever since, and that baby will turn 23 years old in two weeks. I have tweezed and finger pulled them ever since. Now that I have "old lady" eyes, my husband actually helps me! LOL I have to wear 300+ magnifiers, a magnifying mirror and a flashlight on the offending area and a pair of mirco-edge tweezers. I usally "go after" one to 6-8 hairs every day to every three days, in the evening when I do my personal hygiene regimes. What I am noticing now is that my skin is getting tougher and the hairs sometimes are "trapped" and have a harder time breaking through. They will sometimes look like little blackheads or if they can't get out, they will become irritated and look like a little tiny pimple is starting. I have found that exfoilliating my chin area with a rough wash cloth more frequently prevents this from happening. Recently, after my period, I am noticing a significant "drying" feeling on my face and have noticed it goes hand in hand with the some of the other symptoms too. By the way, more than half of my "whiskers" are now gray.. or actually, pure white! It doesn't help at all, they still stick out, still show, still irritate and frustrate! I do have a question. Our cycles go through a follicle stimulating hormone time frame in order to "pop an egg". Do you think this is what stimulates our hair follicles to "spurt whiskers"? What about the pimples? Our oil glands are intricately involved with our hair follicles.. do you think it is the follicle stimulating hormones that "spur on" pimples to develop at our adult age? I have been known to have a pimple or two maybe three or four times a year on my face just before my period, and as soon as I finish the period, the pimple is all but gone. Anyone know about this?

i thought it really was giving you a headache...but you're just having a bad hair day...make an appointment with your stylist...you'll have a great hair day then!! I was looking at headbands last night...now they have these soft kind that don't give you a headache...the real kind....I might have to try some! Hope it's a better hair day for you tomorrow...WOW 8 inches...that's a whole lot of hair...did you give it to locks of love?

You’re hair is very much like my DD’s. You both can wear any style beautifully and never seem to have a bad hair day. I like your newest cut a lot, it’s a little edgy and really cute. Unless it has lots of body, (which mine doesn’t) thick hair really isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I just had my hair thinned and 4 inches cut off and I still it feel like I’ve got a mop on my head. My hair also grows super fast which doesn’t help the cause either. Gahhh!!!

My dermatologist said never pluck hairs, it leads to ingrown hairs and infections. Those pimple like things could be an ingrown hair. I have a lot of hair on my face, so I bought a man's elec razor and shave them off. It's nothing to be ashamed of and it does not make more hair grow, that's a myth. My gyn told me it was a gift from my grandmother. Thanks Grandma.

I see so many women that have 1/8 inch soft fuzz on their face when the light is just right. Not me, I had rather shave.

well I did some Googling last night and it seems what I have is Milia and it can be from damage. It is different from pimples and white heads because it is not a clogged pore but rather it is keratin trapped under the skin where there is no pore. I am not sure now whether it is hormonal chin hairs doing the damage to encourage these, or if it might be aggravated by menopause but basically yet another manifestation of my Porphyria (I do not have Cunea Tarda, I have the systemic Hereditary Coproporphyria but Porphyria is mentioned on the pages about millia...) this photo is obviously not me--milia is common to babies too!--but it is exactly the same pattern I have on my chin and sometimes the corners of my nose! But I have the chin hairs growing in the same place and it irritates the whole situation.

My neck skin (and elsewhere) has also become very tender/itchy, albeit more than 10 years post-menopause. I prematurely aged due to lots of computer-EMF exposure, so my menopause was perhaps in my early 40s. And lots of symptoms are probably due to my life of stress & computer EMFs.

I, too, developed hairs and bumps (though not such clusters), and many of them KILL me, or are itchy. My doctor had claimed they're "skin tags",

...but perhaps what I have is really milia?

Note that my hairs do not grow near my bumps. They're near my chin. And my skin tags are under my chin, at sides of neck, and below my underarm hair. I have also developed brown age spots in various places, odd spider veins, and odd discolorations (akin to black and blue marks). All of them age-related.
