I love trivia games but find it hard to get people to play. I know a lot of trivia and I guess they feel they don't have a chance. My faves are Trivial Pursuit, Tour de Force and The 80's Game.

If it's not trivia I love Scrabble, Scattergories, Boggle (not really a board game) and Cranium.

But we usually end up playing Sequence or Poker's Wild.

Monopoly, hands down.

I know it's not a board game, but puzzles are really fun too.

We love board games. There is an old game called Twenty Questions. There is a category of --People,Place or Thing. There are 20 clues on the card with a number by them. People call out a number for a clue and try to guess the subject. Pieces are moved on a board for every clue you need, you lose points. I found it on e-Bay. It's great for a crowd or two people.

Favorites are: Apples to Apples, Sequence, Mexican Train dominoes, Michigan rummy, theme bingo games.

We love Scrabble. Easy for just two to play. Kills a lot of winter nights, especially when there is no hockey of football on.

We play a lot more card games, than board games. Crib, gin rummy, hearts.

I play Scrabble once a week at the library, and always have a couple of games going online. I also love Taboo, although it's not really a board game. Hilarious with a group!

I grew up playing cards: knock rummy, cribbage, canasta, poker. I wish I had someone to play with now. Maybe I should make that a project for 2015. Although my dad was my favorite person to play cards with, and that will never change.

Some good suggestions. Trivia. We love trivia. We do play scrabble, but he's a sore loser at that one. He needs more practice so that he gets to where he's beating me for real. pples to Apples. I'd forgotten that one. We played that one with a bunch of people at my mom's on New Year's Eve and we laughed until we cried! That is one fun game. Definitely, the more the merrier.

Have you and your son tried Mille Bornes? it's an auto racing card game -- my family loves it and has played it for many years!

Jenga....it's not a board game....but it's fun...

I love playing board games. Most of mine have already been listed. I loved word games, boggle, scrabble, monopoly, clue, scattergories, trivia. I also love card games. I played many of these games with my grandmother. Chinese checkers, checkers and jigsaw puzzles too name a few. Many of these games I have on my computer and can play alone or against some one. Parcheesi, Sorry, Smartass (this one because I know most of the answers and my kids don't-lol). Risk is fun but it's long and he will probably love it, you may not. I grew up playing it with my brothers. Pictionary is alot of fun but you need more than 2 people.

Scrabble is our game of choice, but we also play Hearts and Spades with the younger family members whose vocabularies are still underdeveloped. I love trivia games, but it's hard to find people who want to play them with me. My favorite trivia game is Mindstein because it has an extra element that helps balance the play. In other words, the player that knows the most trivia might not be the winner.

I wish I could recruit a couple of you trivia players for my library's trivia competition later this month. I'm getting a team together, and so far it includes two of my friends plus a woman we've never met. (She wanted to participate, but didn't have a team.) I'm waiting to hear back from two more people I contacted. It should be fun!

What about Yahtzee or Kismet (I'm told that Kismet is like Yahtzee but w/ color)? Kismet is a dice game that's played like a card game and has the nice feature of short and finite play time. We always drag out the Kismet game when the electricity goes out for long periods of time. :O)

Scrabble and cards

I admit I might be a bit biased, as people we knew invented the game, but I love Balderdash. It came out in the 80's, and is a word game, where an obscure word is given to the players. They write down what they believe is the correct definition, or bluff a fake definition if they don't know the real one. You win points if either you guessed the correct definition, or bluffed one, but others were convinced that your definition was correct. It's a lot of fun, as some of the bluff definitions are hilarious, or they actually seem more believable than the true meaning, once it is given!

Scrabble is my favourite but I love to play Monopoly, Clue, Sorry, Sequence and Rummikub. Love Trivial Pursuit. I also like playing cards like Euchre, Rummy, Gin Rummy, Uno, Skip Bo. I love to play Mille Borne. I get together with my friend and her Mom every couple of weeks and we play a few hands of Canasta. Yahtzee is another game my family played

Clue! I always loved playing it. Mr. Mustard in the dining room with the lead pipe lol.
Yahtzee, Sequence, more for the older folks is the Reminiscing game stimulates the old brain cells, Picture This game is a great fun game. One I had years ago called Black Box don't know if it's still available. And of course UNO, I play the app game now or online. Good options for learning about traveling would be Road Trip or Passport To culture.

Trivial Pursuit, Pictionary, Trivia For Dummies, Sorry, and Scattergories.
Used to like Rummy and Uno, I like Speed (the card game).

I am with pickyshopper on this one - Balderdash is my absolute favourite board game - it is a great game and we have so many laughs when we play it with friends.

My friends and I also play Cribbage, forgot that one.

We play many of those when we travel with our RV group. Mexican Train is our fave plus Hand & Foot, Pass the Ace for card games. We used to play Pinochle, not lately tho.

Scrabble.

I grew up playing Canasta, cribbage and Spite and Malice with my Nan. I have no idea how to play them now, I'll have to look online and see if I can figure Canasta out and refresh my memory.

Settlers of Cataan was also fun, but more mature than my 10-y-o grandchild, but mostly because he doesn't read English well. (He's Japanese.)

Thank you! I was hoping to also take a walk down memory lane. Clue. I'd forgotten that one. Payday was always my favorite. Backgammon took me back to Melissa and all the times we played. There are some really good suggestions here! And for games I've never played. All new to both of us might be a good idea?

I love Scrabble and Backgammon. Another favorite--which my family played together when we were growing up--is Tripoley. We played with poker chips or pennies. Fun game!
