Smudge is just plain Weird!!! LOL

Smudge is a 15-yr old Maine Coon. Maine Coons have a large vocabulary of different voices.

Every night when we go to bed, he starts into his "singing" out in the living room. We lay in bed laughing at him. At times he sounds like a crying baby!

Anyway he was singing last nite, and coming down the hall, still singing, right next to the bed. I started to get out of bed just to see him, and I stepped on a throw cushion!!! Man we need a video cam. He somehow dragged? a throw cushion from the loveseat down the (carpeted) hall and into our bedroom. Is he showing us his "kill"? Anyway, if I hadn't seen it I would never have believed it! Toooo funny.

No doubt there's a message there and that one fits as well as any. If we knew why they do the things they do it wouldn't be as funny.

Wow, I have never seen Rocket carry anything around except maybe a small toy when he was a youngster.

That is amazing to me. Rocket does start "singing" when the lights are turned out for the night. I was thinking he was getting dementia, so I usually call out to him to let him know where I am. Although I have to think he always knows where I am. LOL

Those kitties are a trip!! Give Smudge a pat on the head for me. Well done, Smudge.

Zipper, that's why, I suggested you start with a simple flower....the poodle will come a little later :-) I'm so glad you are trying.....please, post something, I will look at it and help you.....or, send it to me in an email. Flood fill a new image and with color (or pattern) and play with the different brushes. Try Push/Smudge/Dodge and Burn brushes. You will get a feel for the brush size and opacity. I have such an open raw emotional spot having gone through this with my over-the-rainbow-bridge cat that I haven't been up to contributing to this thread. But...I am such a huge fan of Smudge [and his Mom] that I must add my best thoughts and wishes for his rapid stabilization/recovery. I'm also a huge supporter of the cat nip therapy. My cat hated...with a very loud passion...anything to do with riding in the car. Of course...there was no way to get her to the vet without the aid of a vehicle...and it broke my heart every time I had to bundle her up and take her. But...it became a little more tolerable for her with the use of cat nip. Her loudly voiced opinions of the entire procedure became farther spaced although they never did cease entirely. She wasn't as susceptible to the over all effects of cat nip as some cats are...but it did help [both of us] in the end. And...yes...I agree cynic. They do forgive. The night before her last trip...while laying in my lap...she sat up...outstretched her paw and patted my face several times. Then went back to sleep. I would never consider declawing an animal so when she reached out her paw to my face...it took all my trust of her not to pull back. I wasn't sure whether her claws were extended or not. They were not...and her paw felt softer than I'd ever remembered. I choose to believe that it was her way of forgiving...and of saying goodbye. We'd been through a lot together. I don't think she wanted to leave but she'd contracted pancreatic cancer...and like my deceased husband who died of the same malady...she'd reached the end of her days.

Roc...if you noted above I also had the blue pearls which I thought I returned but apparently didn't since I found the buggers a few days ago. I haven't seen any more of the blue pearls at my Walmarts. They all look like the Euro Perls encluding the jug I bought a few days ago. Yes I bought more as I plan to test these and check for scent changes. I will do a small load of older bath towels that we don't use with them and chart down what I smell after there washed, than I'll put them away for a few weeks and than pull them out and use them charting the scent again. I'm looking for that rancid scent. And how long it takes an opened bottle to *go bad*.... I realize I have better things to be doing but I'm trying to figure out if the US pearls turn rancid in the bottle after its been opened awhile, if it turns rancid in the clothes after they sit awhile or if this stuff is just plain junk. I loved the US pearls for many months, smelled great, did a wonderful job on whites and suddenly my bottle sat for going on 2 months without being used and bam..rancid. not everyone is having a bad issue with this stuff, some have great results. Stay tuned.

weird blemishes and cloudy areas on quartz countertop

I just had a quartz counter installed in my bathroom and notice those dull dots all over on the top. I’ve been looking for Quartz my kitchen counters and looked at several different brands. I see the dull dots on some and not others. It seems they appear on the cheaper brands? Maybe it’s a coincidence? I asked my court supplier why it looks like that and he said I don’t know? I do notice though that there are some that say polish and I don’t see those little doll dots so I wonder if it’s a finishing process on the quartz? Anyone have any similar situation if you hold it in a certain light, it looks like a bunch of pixels on a computer.

Always having a bunch of cats, I love to read about everyone's fur kids, but had to laugh when I read "Smudge" in the heading....
I have a grandson who we call Smudge...His sitter named him that when he would stand at the window waiting for his Mom to pick him up and smudge the window....He is now 21, still goes by Smudge and most people don't know his given name, Ryan....
Instead of a pat on the head, I'll give my Smudge a hug the next time I see him.......

Maybe he is singing you a lullaby. The cover besides your bed may have been for him to lay on. He was just waiting for an invitation from you guys that it was ok to be in the same room with you. Too cute.Our dog can tell time. She knows when it is time for her treats and meals throughout the day. She talks to my husband. Singing might be next for her.

The cat likes to be comfortable carries it's own pillow around lol
That is funny. I so miss my kitties and their antics. We had a Maine Coon at one time too, really big and fluffy and so pretty. He loved to go out and hunt. Often I would find gifts at the door. He just showed up at our house in Oklahoma one day back when we had lots of really big dogs, 2 Danes, Afghan, lab. One of the Danes hated cats which is why we did not have any then. That cat said oh no you don't I am going to live here too and sure enough he did. He was definitely an outside cat but we had his shots and took care of him and he just loved us and the dogs lol.

Aw! Maybe he was telling you he was making his bed up next to yours? If it was a kill, wonder what he thought it might be, if not a pillow? Cats are funny! I too had a Maine Coon who talked up a storm. People would call me and at somepoint during the conversation would say, I better let you go. I finally started asking why, and they would think I had a baby who was crying. Must be a typical vocalization for them.

My cats do something similar. One carries toys around in his mouth while crying this high pitched cry. He does it every day and brings the toy to us while we praise him lavishly for being such a good hunter. :)

My other cat likes to suck and knead a blanket in his room and makes loud yowl-y noises while he does it.
