Show me your Silestone Yukon Blanco
Comments (4)I don't have the Yukon Blanco, but I do have a light colored leathered Silestone called Yellow Nile. I haven't had any permanent staining problems. Red wine rings left over night scared me at first, but did come out with a scratchy pad and some Bar Keeper's Friend. I wasn't able to find anyone else with my quartz choice either. I ended up gathering about 6 samples together to help me with coordinating my other choices. Also, I was able to have my mom go to one of her local Home Depots (in a completely different state) and take photos and give me her input. That was the biggest help. I think the Yukon looks like a great neutral calm quartz. Since it's even lighter than my selection, I understand your hesitancy in getting the leathered. I would still take some samples home and test them out for staining. Good luck to you!...See Morehas anyone used SIlestone Blanco City
Comments (9)Well, this is 7 years after the original post request so probably not relevant for you any more... but I hope this is useful for anybody else looking at the Silestone (Consentino) Blanco City Quartz. We purchased this quartz for our countertops through Home Depot about a year ago in our ADU remodel and we love it! The warm colors work really well with the maple cabinets and terra cotta inspired tile floor. It is warm without being too beigy. It almost reads more as an off-white than anything else. When you look at it up close, you notice all small quartz pieces, color variation as shown in the photo in this thread or in the tiny samples you get from the store. However, as a whole it appears much more uniform and looks great. I think based on the images of the small samples alone, I never would have thought to pick this quartz. As far as the quality, I think it is pretty typical to most others quartz. It doesn't wear or scratch easily; No signs of wear or stains so far and we are a year in. It has a gloss finish and wipes down super easily. It does a pretty good job at disguising dirtiness because of all the color variation. I am posting a handful of photos that hopefully will help to illustrate what it actually looks like installed (mind the cheerios in the sink). Let me know if you need more or want any other tips!...See MoreQuartz countertop suggestion?
Comments (14)Mable looking quartz is very popular. What kind of look are you going for overall? Calm and serene or a more rustic look? Cambria Torquay is very popular but I've read a lot of problems with Cambria with resin pooling and them not standing behind their product, so it's kind of shyed me away from that brand. I'm looking at white quartz myself and am staying with the big companies that use the Brenton technology (Caesarstone, Hanstone, etc). There is cheap Chinese quartz out there but they've had a lot of problems with staining. I would order some samples and conduct your own stain tests. I had to eliminate one of my top contenders because mustard did not come out despite using Soft Scrub. I don't think your friend's kitchen looked dated. The tumbled stone backsplash may not be the most popular right now, but when I was looking at backsplash tile last weekend, all the tile stores told me they still sell it. I think it might be easier to decide on a floor first and work your way up (literally) to the countertops....See Morewhite or stainless sink?
Comments (17)I’ve had both stainless and white enamel cast iron and when we did our kitchen remodel a couple of years ago I went with undermount stainless steel for both of my sinks. I figured that over the years, the only downside with SS was the water spots left behind. With white I had trouble with every other stain being left behind! I have arthritic hands and I just did NOT find it easy to scrub my white sinks clean! My hubby could do it just fine, but I hated relying on him to do it just because I couldn’t seem to put enough elbow grease into it. The nice thing about undermount SS sinks is there is less surface area showing on the counter, so the water spots don’t bother me nearly as much as they did when I had top mount SS sinks. I have both a Krauss sink (main sink) and an Elkay sink (prep sink) and they’re both really nice and not noisy like some cheaper SS sinks I’ve had in the past that aren’t so well insulated or as thick or whatever....See MoreSusan Lee
