I did it! Now I need some suggestions.

I soaked the lima beans, then fixed them in the pressure cooker without any seasoning except oregano and Old Bay. I put them in smaller portions probably two tablespoons and they are in the freezer waiting to be taken out and completed with some seasonings--for a small serving with other stuff. Now, I could fix them with the tomato seasonings; or I could put the brown sugar, etc for something like baked beans. Any other suggestions? Will only fix them for me not a family thing. Thanks. Beans make a lovely basr for a salad too. I like beans, finely sliced red onion or spring onions, tomatoes, cucumber, dressed with a mustardy vinaigrette, sprinkled with parsley.

-Place 1/2 c. lima beans plus a little water or chicken stock in a blender and blend into a puree. Add butter and seasonings to taste, perhaps some finely chopped fresh parsley or chives on the top. Serve instead of mashed potatoes or another starchy vegetable.

-Heat and serve with a sprinkle of lemon juice or lemon pepper seasoning.

-Make into succotash mixing equal parts of cooked lima beans and cooked fresh, frozen, or canned corn. Minced red and green sweet bell peppers are good with this.

-Stir-fry in a little Italian dressing along with some sliced carrots and celery until the carrots and celery are heated through and crisp/tender. Add a little rosemary while cooking the mixture for additional flavor.

-Add to any stir-fry mixture.

-Mash and use as a spread. Beans-on-toast or crackers type thing, or on a tortilla instead of refried beans.

-Eat just as they are, or add them to your salad, soup, stew (Brunswick Stew), casserole.

-Google "recipes using cooked lima beans" for more ideas.

SUCCOTASH WITH GROUND BEEF
makes about 6-servings

Ingredients:
1 cup lean ground beef (or use lean ground turkey)
1 cup lima beans, cooked
1 can (about 15 ounces) corn, drained
1 can (about 15 ounces) tomatoes, drained and chopped
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (if you like)

Directions:
1. Brown ground beef in a large pan.
2. Add lima beans, corn, tomatoes, salt, and black pepper. Reduce heat, cover and cook for 5 minutes until thoroughly heated.
3. If using nutmeg, sprinkle on top before serving.

Hi vlodom, I was just going through some similar decisions recently and rhonda in upstate SC convinced me to go with Crepuscle. She posted a picture of it growing at one year old that is incredibly enticing. Plus, it will do that well in less than ideal sunlight. And it has few thorns. Just a really nice rose, I think. I've been interested in New Dawn too. Someone has been working on me towards one of New Dawn's seedlings: Penny Lane. That one has really good shade tolerance, she said, and she loved its fragrance. I assume it will grow as well in the Piedmont as New Dawn will, though she was writing from Kansas. Some other rambling or climbing roses you might take an interest in: Madame Alfred Carriere, Dublin Bay, Red Fountain, Quadra, Laguna, Reve d'Or, Jaune Desprez, William Allen Richardson, Sympathie, Goldfinch, Creme de la Creme, Climbing Pinkie (especially the cultivar at the Antique Rose Emporium). If you'd really like a lot of bushiness as well as the ability to put out some long canes, then take a look at Ghislaine de Feligonde. It ought to mix well with Crepuscle too. Avoid Iceberg, including climbing Iceberg, if you want to try to avoid having to spray for blackspot on the east coast. I wanted Iceberg so much that I decided to give it a try anyway... but sure enough, all I'd read about it being more of a problem on this side of the country turned out to be correct. Do you have a receipt from the order that tells a color name or number you can compare with what you got? Do they have a sample in the store that you looked at when you ordered that you can compare your tile with? I'm so sorry you're unhappy and hate to think of it affecting how you feel about your kitchen every day. Even if it was you who made the mistake, it's better to admit it now and try again? It's really hard for me to tell on the computer image if it goes well with your counter or not. Did you try taping some up on the wall in the planned pattern to see if you'll really like it?

Pretty room, lots of potential. I like the new location of the chaise. I would be dying to get up on a ladder and add color to the tray ceiling. Do you have a foyer where the mirror and table could be placed? Neither has a purpose in the current location. And moving them elsewhere would spread that distinctive carved furniture around the house. Five matching pieces is a lot for one room. In their place you could put a chair and a floor lamp and a cabinet to house the TV components. Have you given thought to an end table and table lamp? I would think about adding a third and fourth color to the brown and beige in the room. An area rug maybe?
