Lynn's Spicy Zucchini Bread 3 cups flour 1 tsp baking powder 1 tsp baking soda 1 tsp salt 2 tsp cinnamon 1/2 tsp nutmeg 3 eggs 1 3/4 cups sugar 1 cup vegetable oil 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla 2 cups lightly packed coarsely grated zucchini 1 cup raisins (opt) 3/4 cup nuts (opt) Sift dry ingred. Beat eggs with sugar, oil, vanilla. Gradually beat in dry ingred. Stir in zucchini, adding nuts and raisins if you like. Divide between 2 greased 9x5-inch loaf pans. Here is another one from the same cookbook. This one sounds good. Similar to another Asian chicken wing recipe I have but this one is missing fresh garlic. Chicken Wings with Oyster Sauce 2 Recipe By: Serving Size: 4 Cuisine: Uncategorized Main Ingredient: Chicken Categories: Ginger, Soy Sauce, Sherry, Chicken -= Ingredients =- 10 - 12 Chicken wings 1 slice of fresh ginger Vegetable oil for frying 3 - 4 tablespoons of oyster sauce 2 tablespoons of soy sauce 1 tablespoon of dry sherry 1/2 teaspoon of sugar 1 cup of water -= Instructions =- Divide chicken wings into 2 pieces by separating the large joint from the v-shaped piece. In a wok or large skillet, add ginger slice and enough oil to cover bottom of pan and heat until hot. Brown the wings (cook half at a time so as not to overcrowd skillet). Pour out excess oil and discard ginger slice. Add all remaining ingredients to wok or skillet, cover and simmer 10 minutes. Remove lid and cook another 10-15 minutes, or until wings are tender and sauce is reduced. During cooking, baste wings frequently with sauce. When done, wings should be coated with a heavy glaze of sauce. *Available at many supermarkets and at Oriental and specialty food shops. C&Ped the recipe: Apple Crisp Recipe This recipe was taken from The Vegetarian Epicure, with revisions by Megan Curtes (2005). 2 lbs tart green apples (or Macintosh), about 5 to 5 1/2 cups sliced 1/4 cup water 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp salt 3/4 cup flour (1/2 c white flour, 1/4 c whole wheat flour) 1/2 cup butter  Peel apples and slice thinly. Put them in shallow 1-quart casserole dish and sprinkle with water and 1/2 tsp cinnamon. Put dish aside and prepare crust. Sift together dry ingredients and cut them into the butter until well combined. Sprinkle mixture evenly over the apples. (DonÂt mix together.) Cover dish and bake at 350 degrees for 1/2 hour, then uncover and bake about another 1/2 hour. The crust will be crisp on top and seep down through the apples slightly binding them together. Serve hot or cold, alone or with vanilla ice cream, half & half, or milk!  This is a deliciously warm Fall favorite, especially when paired with a visit to your local orchard, farm, or co-op! Thomas, Anna. Fish not only isn't vegan, it also isn't vegetarian, but for some reason some people think it is (NO clue why -- it's meat -- and certainly doesn't fit the definition of vegetarian). And for some reason some "vegetarian" cookbooks of the 70's included fish recipes. I have one called "The Whole Wheat Heart of Yasha Aginsky" that sounds a lot like what you describe but of course the word "Epicurean" isn't in the title. It does, however, have a fish recipe or two in it. I don't have it with me or I'd check for the other recipes, but I do still make some of the dishes in it. As mentioned, "The Vegetarian Epicure" is from that time period and looks like what you describe but no fish recipes. If nothing else turns up, put in a request at a local used bookstore or contact some place like Powells Bookstore in Portland, OR (powells.com, but talking to a person might be more helpful) to see if they can help you. Also, although I know what it's like to want to track down an old book (I do it myself), there are tons of other good vegetarian cookbooks that may provide recipes you love just as much. Good luck!
