Hood Insert over 36' Wolf Range Top?
Comments (3)First, yes, a hood liner is what you are looking for. Next, I believe the minimum recommended CFM for a Wolf 36-6 is 900 CFM. Food for thought... you are getting a range top that most REALLY enjoy cooking on. As you use the Wolf, you may find that you cook more and more and use more than 2 burners more often than not. Consider over sizing the minimum CFM requirements just in case (maybe 1200-1500. It doesn't cost that much more and then you can run the blower at less than max most of the time. Next, go with a remote blower or in-line if you can. It will be MUCH quieter. Finally, consider a 42 inch hood liner and a 48 inch capture space. This will create a very effective exhaust system. We put in a 60 inch Blue Star that required 1800 CFM. In the liner system we went with, the closest blower was 2000 CFM but we upgraded to the 2500 CFM remote blower ($250 upgrade) and had a 72 inch capture area built. We did match a 60 inch hood liner with a 60 inch range b/c anything over 60 inches is custom and automatically double. Building the capture area at 72 inches worked fine but if I could have, I would have gone 66 inches on the liner. At any rate, I use the hood most of the time at about half power and it is almost silent. At full speed, you can still have a conversation next to it at normal levels. Lastly, there are a lot of really good hood liners out there and Wolf is certainly one. Independent is another and I used a Prestige high capacity hood liner b/c I REALLY like its baffle system design. I had never heard of Prestige before we got the Blue Star but I am really pleased with its performance....See MoreNXR 36" gas 6-burner vs. Bertazzoni 36" dual-fuel 5-burner
Comments (4)Don't know if the NXR could be said to boost resale values of the house more than the Berta ranges or vice versa. Neither brand is well known. The Bertas do look spiffier and you can get them with colored finishes.. The NXR is, frankly, plain and definitely industrial looking. THe NXR might look fine, though. Have you seen the Fine Homebulding spread that I've linked to below? It's an article about a transitional neighboorhood reno (Bay Area, though) with a 36" NXR and a Kobe hood. Gives an idea of possibilities. The Berta range and hood combo sounds like quite the deal. Is that dual-fuel Berta a 36" or a 30" unit? Price seems way low for a 36" dual fuel Berta. Last I recall hearing here was that a 36" all-gas Berta could be had for $2999 but that the dual fuel models were a lot more expensive. Also, what do you know about the hood that goes with the Berta range? Comments (3)I was between the same two but in 30" and chose the American Range. I found that the fit and finish was better overall, the cleaning seemed easier and the price was lower by $300. That said, I was looking at the older model of the Culinarian which had a smaller oven that didn't fit a full sized baking sheet and had poor igniter placement. The Culinarian was recently updated to make the oven bigger and the igniters have been significantly improved....See MoreCafe 36" all gas range w/ 6 burners, hood size and CFM recommendations
Comments (7)1. I don't own either, so I can't comment on more than noted here. A 1200 CFM rating (neither will achieve this flow rate) should be sufficient, depending on many factors you can read about reviewing hood related threads on this forum. 2. Deeper (front-to-back) is always better for plume capture, so long as the hood is mounted high enough that it doesn't block one's view when cooking. 3. MUA in many municipalities is required by code. The MUA is intended to keep house pressure from falling too much and back-drafting combustion appliances, if present. Else, there may be a carbon monoxide hazard. MUA also is necessary for the hood system blower to reach a desirable fraction, say 2/3, of its rated (zero static pressure) flow rate....See MoreMrs_Nyefnyef
